Greetings Foodies Bee Hive!
Here's another Ilokano dish that I came to love. When I was young I thought corn can only be boiled then eaten as a snack. But that change when I was a teenager when I saw one of my elder sisters cooking it for lunch.
At first, I am thinking how it is going to taste since I've only known corn as a snack that is usually served in the afternoon.
But when I tasted it, I fell in love with it because it is so tasty and right that very moment became of my of favorites.
Cooking it is pretty easy, you just sautee some onion and garlic then add the corn.
- Corn
- Bitter gourd leaves
- Fried pork
- Onion
- Garlic
- Cooking oil
- Salt
Grate the corn

Separate the bitter gourd leaves from its stem

Peel and slice the garlic

Peel and slice the onion

1. Fry the pork until golden then slice into strips

2. Sautee the onion and garlic into the leftover oil of fried pork

3. Add the pork strips

4. Add the grated corn

5. Add some water, salt, cook in low heat, stir occasionally

6. When the corn is cooked remove from the heat add the bitter gourd leaves and stir until the bitter gourd are cooked

7. The bitter gourd will be cooked on the dish's own heat while stirring it, put on a serving bowl and it is done...

Serve while it is hot, you can eat it on its own or partner it with rice

By the way, I cooked this dish using wood which makes it even tastier.
