Greetings!
It has been more than one week since I last cooked for my family. Today, I am going to cook unplanned. It is unplanned because I did not expect to finish my chores in my vegetable garden a little earlier and early enough for me to rest and clean up the mess that I got in working on my garden. Also, the ingredients that I am going to use in this dish also came from unplanned sources.
For the first time in my whole life, I am going to cook this dish. I have also never seen this dish's combination of ingredients somewhere else. The dish that I am going to cook is called "Ginisang Sayote na may Baguio Beans at Sardinas". We Ilocanos love to "sauteed dishes". And this dish that I am going to cook is sauteed.
Commonly, this dish that I am going to cook uses only Chayote and Sardines in tomato sauce as the main ingredients. Never in my life that I combined another vegetable with this dish, until now.
Since we Ilocanos like to combine almost any vegetable in one dish I am going to use Chayote, Green Beans (Baguio Beans), and Sardines in tomato sauce on this dish for the first time in my whole life. This will be the first time ever that I am going to do this combination of vegetables. I also never tried to cook Green Beans with Sardines in tomato.
I also never seen any member of my family dis this before. I have also never seen someone in my entire life do this combination of ingredients.
I knew the taste of green beans, so, I have an idea of how it is going to taste before I am going to cook it. I also love Chayote and Green Beans that is why I have no problem combining them together.
By the way, I mentioned earlier that this cooking is unplanned. The reason is my wife saw that I finished a little bit early in my gardening chores so she asked me to cook for our family. Even if I just rested for a little while I obliged because I love cooking as much as I love gardening.
So, without further ado, here's how I cook this very tasty dish...

- Chayote (Sayote)
- Green Beans (Baguio Beans)
- Onion
- Garlic
- Ground Black Pepper
- Green Pepper
- Sardines in Tomato Sauce (300 grams)
- Salt (to taste)
- Cooking Oil

Peel, slice, and wash the choyote
Slice and wash the Green Beans (Baguio Beans)
Peel and slice the garlic
Peel and slice the onion
Wash and prepare the green pepper
Prepare the ground black pepper
Prepare the Sardines in Tomato Sauce (you can use any commercial Sardines in Tomato Sauce)

1. Sautee the onion and garlic in a cooking oil
2. Add the Chayote
3. Add some water (enough to submerge the Chayote)
4. Add the Sardines in Tomato Sauce
5. Add the green pepper
6. Add the ground black pepper, stir, add some salt and let it boil
7. When the Chayote is about to be cooked (semi-transparent )add the Green Beans (Baguio Beans), stir to distribute the green beans evenly
8. When the Green Beans (Baguio Beans) are cooked, it is done, turn off the heat.
