After hours of walking and bird watching at the KL Bird Park, we headed for lunch at a restaurant called the Hornbill Cafe which is located in the bird park itself. Very convenient since we didn't have to drive out or leave the area for lunch and could continue our adventure right after eating.
I ordered a dish called 'Nasi Goreng Malaysia'. If this ever represented the fried rice in Malaysia, I think it would get last place. If you're ever visiting Malaysia as a tourist, make sure you don't gauge Malaysian food at tourist spots. We have food x100 times better elsewhere which is way cheaper and much better. But yeah, seems like tourist spot food quality is at this level anywhere in Malaysia for some reason.
Anyway, the 'Nasi Goreng' had a fried egg on top, which was quite plain and not seasoned. It had a small fried chicken wing which was also not seasoned well. The fried rice itself seemed to have some chili in it but was absolutely tasteless as well. It also came with some 'papadom' crisps and a slice of raw cucumber and tomato.
The only saving grace for the whole dish was the 'satay'. The chicken meat was nicely grilled and moist with a superb peanut sauce to go with which was delicious.
Food wise 1/5. Ambiance 4/5.
