Hello to all Food Lovers,
this is my entry for the weekly challenge of:
Qurator's: Hive Top Chef! | Hotdogs
We've never made our own hot dog buns before, so this was a great challenge!
INGREDIENTS FOR THE HOT DOG BUNS:
Firstly, put the flour in a bowl and mix with the yeast, salt and sugar. Add the egg, oil and lukewarm milk and mix until a smooth dough. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until it increases in size.
Then knead the dough vigorously on a lightly floured work surface and divide into 9 equal pieces. Form a 15 cm long roll from each of these pieces and flatten by 1 cm on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Let rise again for about 20-30 minutes in a warm place. Brush thinly with milk and bake in a preheated oven at 175°C convection oven for approx. 15 minutes on the middle shelf.
Unfortunately, our dough turned out a bit too thin and could not be shaped very well. The taste was still very good.
INGREDIENTS FOR THE HOT DOG SAUCE:
6 Tablespoon Ketchup
4 Tablespoon Mayonaise
3 Tablespoon Mustard
2 Teaspoon Honey
1 pinch of Sugar, brown
½ Tablespoon Vinegar
some Chili powder
some Paprika powder, sweet
some Paprika powder, spicy
Simply mix the first 6 ingredients in a bowl. Season with chili and paprika powder to the desired degree of spiciness.
To spread the sauce nicely on the hot dog, we put it in a piping bag.
Now we just have to put all the ingredients together to make a nice hot dog. For this we have prepared roasted onions and sliced gherkins. The hot dog sausages we have briefly warmed in hot water. And here now the result:
Bon Appétit!
I hope you liked my recipe and my preparation and that it has animated you to recreate it once!
