Capsicum Pakauda (or also known as pakaura) is a popular snack and street food here in our country. This food originated from the Indian subcontinent and is loved my many people especially due to the spices used in it. I tried making it in my home and this was my second homemade pakauda. I will show the ingredients that I used in each steps of its preparation.
- You would need a long and elongated capsicum in order to prepare this. Take out all the seeds and placenta inside the capsicum by cutting it from one side.
I boiled a potato then mashed it in a dish along with some finely chopped onion. Also, I added some salt and red chili to the same.
The next step is to prepare a batter from besan. This ingredient is also local to the same Indian subcontinent. If not found in your areas, it is easy to make by smashing gram chickpea until it turns to flour. Add small amount of water to the same along with some salt and stir it uniformly without leaving any lumps.
- Now put the mashed potato inside the empty capsicum and then put that into the besan batter. You need to dip all side of the stuffed capsicum into the besan batter.
- In a deep fried oil, slowly put the capscicum dipped into batter into the frying pan. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and from time to time, just flip its side so that it is cooked from all side.
- Capsicum pakauda is now ready to be served. It is very tasty when you take it with green chili pickle. However, I prefer sauce over the pickle. The ingredients used here are very basic ingredients and available at your home. You could add more ingredients like cumin, coriander powder, black pepper, even egg and so on.
