Hey Hive!
Now that a lot of people here have already gotten vaccinated, I'm very happy to hear that Singapore is now allowing in-house dining again, but up to 2 people and obviously you have to be vaccinated. However, we're still trying to stay safe and limiting our time out, at least around peak hour timings since I hate being around crowds anyway.
So the other day, we had a voucher to spend at this thai restaurant called Siam Kitchen, but it was ridiculously crowded with everyone trying to use the voucher before it expired. We even went there at around 5:30pm, before peak dinner period and they were already full! We were too hungry at the time to wait so we went to the food court instead.

Unfortunately I was too hungry to remember to take that many pictures but the moment we were on the escalator to go up to the food court we could smell the delicious aroma of Pepper Lunch! Turns out there was a Pepper Lunch Express in the food court! It had been a long time since we've had Pepper Lunch so we decided to try it again since it smelled so good!
Pepper Lunch is a Japanese DIY casual dining concept, which specialises in Pepper Rice with various meats like steak, chicken or salmon cooked on a hotplate, and promises good quality at affordable prices! They actually have outlets across Asia and Australia.
Here's their menu! They also have Japanese curry, pasta, and various add-ons like cheese, egg and more!

I couldn't really decide what to get because everything looked and smelled so good! But in the end decided on Chicken Pepper Rice and Cheese!
So you get served it on a hotplate and it's actually pretty hot but the sizzling sounds so good!
Sean got the beef pepper rice so we could exchange and try different types of meat.
So sorry for the quality the lighting in the food court wasn't very good unfortunately.
The meal also comes with a bowl of miso soup and you can get their signature brown sauce and spicy sauce to add to your rice as well.
But once you get your rice you might want to stir it up immediately so that the bottom doesn't get too burnt. Also in my case, it's necessary to stir so that the cheese will melt. And it was soo yummy!! The pepper rice was moist and fluffy and had a hint of pepper and spice. The chicken was pretty average, nothing to complain about, and it mixed well with the cheese too! Some of the cheese actually ended up a little burnt on the hotplate but it became crispy so it was yummy too!
I tried a little bit of Sean's beef and it was really nice too! But I think the cheese made my rice so much better. The miso soup wasn't great though, since it tasted too artificial imo. It was a little too salty and processed even after mixing so I couldn't finish it.
The hotplate and the rice made us really warm though so I was craving a cool refreshing drink or dessert after that. And we decided to try this new bubble tea shop called The Whale Tea!
We'd never heard of this shop before but their drinks looked pretty good and I was thirsting for something cold.
We were going to get the Osmanthus Honey Fresh Lemon until I saw this mango drink that looked refreshing! Mango is one of my favourite fruits but we don't eat it often at home since it's so hard to tell when a mango is ripe enough. But every time we buy bubble tea I will always choose a mango drink.
I wanted to try Osmanthus Tea since I've never tried it before, so we went with a Mango Osmanthus Tea.
One of their signature drinks was the Flaming Brown Sugar and the person before us ordered that so we got to see it prepared! It was so cool when they torched the top of the bubble tea to make it a creme brulee.
Eventually we got our drink! And it was soo refreshing and cooling!
I loved that there was real mango pulp inside too. Probably the only kind of pulp that I don't mind tbh, since I love mangoes. The osmanthus tea was a little more bitter than other teas but the sweetness of the mango balanced it out so well! It was definitely a fitting drink to cool us down.
Ever since I started playing Genshin Impact, I've been wanting to try Osmanthus when I found out it was actually a real thing. It's a line that one of the characters in Genshin always say, and I hear it at least once a day now every time I leave Zhongli on idle for at least 2 seconds.
It's become quite a meme and kinda annoying tbh but it still made me curious to try Osmanthus tea and I'm glad I finally got to try it. I don't know if osmanthus wine actually exists though, but the tea is good enough for me. And I'm glad I chose the mango one because it was so good! What's your go-to bubble tea order?
That's all for today though! Thanks so much for reading!
