Hey Hive!
Sorry about missing last week's post but I was diagnosed with covid-19 for a week and it was so bad. But I feel a lot better now and we're back to our normal schedule, hopefully!
Now that a lot of people here have already gotten vaccinated, I'm very happy to hear that Singapore is now allowing in-house dining again but obviously you have to be vaccinated. But since there aren't any restrictions this allows us to try out different food places again!
So a couple of months ago, Sean found this new Korean pizza place at the mall he frequently visits to go to the arcade and since we've never had Korean pizza before we decided to try it!
The restaurant is called Go Pizza and probably has one of the most uniquely shaped pizzas I've ever seen! But we'll get to that. The restaurant itself is quite open and minimalist with plenty of seating. But it probably gets quite crowded on the weekends.
The overall design of the place looks quite clean and modern with plenty of spotlights and a lot of rounded edges, just like their theme and pizza!
They have plenty of tables but also a couple of booths with plush benches - our favourite kind of seating!
So to order, there is an iPad at the front where you can select the items you want.
But since the counter was empty we just headed to the counter to order directly.
Here's the full menu! They had different set meals and a whole lot of varieties for pizza, ranging from classic flavours like Cheese, Hawaiian and Pepperoni to their special Korean flavoured pizzas called K-Pizza! These included Korean Bulgogi, Yangnyum Chicken, Fire Chicken and Bacon Potato!
They also had different pasta and rice sets, korean fried chicken and some sides as well! Overall, quite an extensive menu for sure!
We decided to get a duo package which included 2 pizzas, 2 sides and 2 drinks! After we placed our order we went to take a seat and eagerly awaited our pizzas!
There was this soft drink machine where you could choose from hundreds of available soft drinks that I thought was so ingenious.
About 10 to 15 minutes later, our order arrived! We were so excited to eat the pizzas but it was still pretty hot since it just came out fresh from the oven!
So we decided to try the sides first. We ordered a side of french fries and a couple of mozzarella sticks! It had been a while since we had mozzarella sticks and we absolutely love them so we were excited to see how stretchy these ones would be!
And the verdict: actually pretty good stretch-wise! The batter was also really tasty but it could've been warmer. Still really yummy though and definitely just like the ones we used to eat from Lotteria in Japan!
The french fries were pretty average but there was quite a big bag of them which was nice. Since the mozzarella sticks don't taste good if they're cold we ate them up first.
Then we decided to try the pizza! We ordered a classic one and a K-Pizza just to try out their different flavours. And you can see what I mean by their unique pizza shape - it's a rounded rectangle! I think there was a video playing with why they chose this shape like it cooked more evenly with their super powered oven or something.
Anyway, for the classic flavour we chose a Cream Mushroom Pizza! I don't think we've ever tried a cream-based pizza before and we love mushrooms so I thought it'd be nice to try.
And it was actually really good! The crust was like a crispy bread and the cream sauce was very light and subtle. The mushrooms were still nice and juicy but had an oven roasted taste to them too. I think I would've liked some chili flakes on there which they unfortunately did not have but it was still really good!
And it was fine that this pizza didn't have much spice since the Korean pizza we bought was the Yangnyum Chicken Pizza which was slightly spicy. The sauce definitely did look pretty spicy!
We initially wanted to try the Bacon Potato Pizza but they ran out of those unfortunately. It seemed perfect for us to try since we love bacon and potatoes but oh well. We love korean fried chicken also so this was a good time to try their chicken at the same time.
I wasn't a big fan of the Korean pizza as much though. The chicken was quite spread out and they weren't that big pieces so it was hard to get a good ratio of chicken to pizza. The chicken itself was good and definitely spicy, but the pizza turned out to be quite dry without the chicken. And it also had a lot of pumpkin and vegetables on it which made it quite sweet. I think it was an interesting flavour combination but I'm not really a fan. It was still good, but maybe just not to my taste.
For one of our drinks, Sean ordered a Milkis, which is a Korean milk soda? The chicken was spicier than we thought and we ended up drinking quite a bit. The mushroom pizza helped to alleviate the spice which was good.
Although it was a thin crust the breadiness of it was pretty substantial and I was so stuffed I could barely finish my half of the pizzas! They were both pretty tasty though so maybe we'll go back sometime and try their bacon potato pizza!
If you wanna try out some cool Korean pizzas, why not Go Pizza? Check them out next time you're in the area and craving some pizza!
