Hey Hive!
Now that a lot of people here have already gotten vaccinated, I'm very happy to hear that Singapore is now allowing in-house dining again but obviously you have to be vaccinated. But since there aren't any restrictions this allows us to try out different food places again!
So last week I shared about a healthy tofu bowl that we tried in a new gen hawker center we found on the east side of Singapore, and since we're on the trend of healthy food I thought of sharing another healthy drink we tried recently!
We were out looking at winter coats for our upcoming trip a few months ago when I was getting thirsty for something other than water so we decided to get a drink. But Sean wasn't in the mood for bubble tea and I wanted something healthy but there wasn't even a supermarket nearby so we decided to try this juice bar we saw in the mall on the way to the train station!
I'm not sure how long this juice bar has been around but I remember seeing this outlet quite a few times and have seen people buying from them before but never felt the need or want to try it. I think they do have some other outlets in the North and South of Singapore but mainly in central.
We've tried other juice bars before like BOOST but not this particular brand. And since I wanted something healthy this seemed like the perfect opportunity to try it out! They specialise in all types of vegetable and fruit juices and their menu even lists them according to different categories like Beauty Tips, Natural Healing, Boost Immunity and Healthier Life!
Of course I'm not sure if those words are all marketing or if they actually do boost immunity and such, but they do use actual fresh fruits so I guess it must be healthy in some way. You could even buy sliced fruit from them straight if you wanted!
They had a lot of juices to recommend and just looking at the store they were obviously leaning towards the recent trend of coconut and avocado shakes. They even had a whole list of Avoshakes, which were avocado mixed with other fruits and stuff in a milkshake!
Like I mentioned in a previous post, coconut and avocado shakes have become really popular these days with plenty of chains popping up in Singapore. I think it was mainly due to the pandemic when most of the bubble tea shops were closed and didn't even offer delivery options so Singaporeans had to find an alternative! And an arguably healthier one at that!
Anyway, the special item they were promoting at 365 Juice Bar was of course the Kale juice since I believe it's one of their pricier ones, but it does have a ton of health benefits too of course. And it seems to really pack a punch per calorie as well; with more iron, calcium and vitamins among other minerals!
I don't think I've actually ever tried kale before in my life even though I know it's really healthy it is also really expensive over here so I never thought it was worth it. So this was a good chance to finally try it in a safer way mixed with juice just in case it doesn't suit my palate.
To be honest I don't really remember which juice we ordered but it was probably the Kale Orange Pineapple Cold-Pressed Juice. Since we don't really eat oranges or pineapples normally either (as I'm not a big fan of both fruits) we decided to try it and see if the combination together would be better than their individual components.
After a few minutes our juice was ready! It definitely looked green and kinda resembled sugarcane juice, but it definitely didn't taste like it for sure!
I'm not sure how much kale was actually inside the juice but it straight up just tasted like orange juice. Not as tart as plain orange juice thankfully but it was very prominent that we couldn't taste anything else. It was a good palate cleanser though, and at least we knew it had plenty of vitamin C so that's something.
I'm still not sure what kale tastes like but I'm not sure I would like just plain kale juice either so at least I got the nutrients without having to taste it. Maybe next time I'll try a kale dish and see if it tastes good.
Thanks so much for reading!
