I'm one of those who love waking up in the morning and go find a great up of coffee or a good breakfast or lunch to start the day with. New places are always welcome and even better so I can try more new things and excite my life a little. Totally a way to start the day. In this post, I'm sharing exactly just that. That's literally how they call it in Thai. The name was so sincere so I couldn't help myself checking out the place. Later, I found out that Satay under the big tree also got featured on Mark Wiens channel so, pretty neat I would say.
Satay under the big tree located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Quite closed to the old city so it's convenient to get here. Start selling early from 7ish and will sell out normally around 11ish so yes, it can't be lunch or dinner, it gotta be breakfast!
How Satay under the big tree works
You sit surrounding the charcoal grill, the lady will keep grilling the meat and serve you one few by few skewers at a time until you tell her to stop. There are pickles, fresh chillis, and red onions to eat along with the meat as well. The meat (It's BEEF by the way!) tastes a little sweet and herby (just the way good satay would taste - If you know stay, then you know) so it tastes so damn good with the side veggies she provide.
At the end of the meal, the skewers will be counted and billed accordingly. Handy huh? Each skewer costs 7THB, not too bad considering the deliciousness and the experience you got.
I think this is a really cool way to start the day once in a while. If you're new to Chiang Mai or Thailand in general, this would sure be an epic experience!
