Whoo Hoo!! What a Fun and Fabulous contest we had this round with the jewelry making for Mother’s Day. There were a total of 28 entries which means a total of 28 awesome ideas shared within the community for more inspiration!
I hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day and that each mother who received a piece of handmade jewelry from you are very happy about their gifts.
As always this was such a hard round to judge because there were so many nice entries. Thankfully a couple of our Community Builders were available to help judge which made things easier. Thanks to 
As with all NeedleWorkMonday challenges, we base our judging on certain criterias to help us narrow down the final winners, among which, but not limited to, the final presentation, techniques and materials used, story/inspiration behind the project, originality, creativity plus level of complexity/difficulty.
With this round we had some additional requirements that had to be included and the entries that did so stayed in the running. It’s important to include all required information in order to be eligible to win.

@Tibaire shared some very touching moments of her late mother and how she and her siblings surprised her with gifts in the past. She went on to tell us about her friend Josefina who became her surrogate mother and how she defended and supported her.
You can easily see the love and work she put into making each petal and flower and adding the pearls in for extra jazz. The necklace is beautiful and adorns her friend so well, especially since Josefina loves flowers.

There was a lot of designing that took place with this creation. It was so heartwarming when
The story of her friend Belly taking in her nieces after her sister passed and raised them as her own was very touching. Along with that the design of the necklace was very unique with a lot of character and it stood out.

We are were really touched by this entry. @Jicrochet’s relationship with her mother is moving within itself. She found a project that would satisfy her mother and give new life to her sweater. She further looked at the definition of jewelry and went with making a beautiful adornment with pearls.
I love the words she uses to describe her mother and mothers in general. It was very sweet and heartfelt. As

This is another project that intrigued each of us. The beautiful bright colors used is enough to get anyone’s attention. She did such a good job in the elaboration of making these knitted spheres into a beautiful masterpiece with added pearls.
The description of her neighbor Johana and how selfless and respectful she is was really nice. The quality of her photos, her beautiful spoken words and all the effort she put into this project and post are well deserved for this second place position.

We had our first place winner right off the bat because each of us chose her entry as our top choice! @Irenenavarroart used a variety of techniques, embroidery and crocheting, and added them to a metal form and interlaced them with pearls which turned out brilliantly.
You can see she put a lot of care and thought into her process based on her mother’s preferences and loving to wear pieces that have her name or initials. The bracelet is so elegant and original and the creativity in our eyes was the best all around.

The story behind these rings is inspiring. @Multifacetas shared how her two sisters reflect who their mother was and continue to inspire her with their love. It was refreshing seeing this project as it was our only ring submission. The materials and construction of the rings was neat to see and they both are very pretty.
