Greetings Readers
What a crazy week! Working hard and still feeling as if I am behind in my work. I'm not. However, there isn't really time for any extras. Be sure to read 's update before you get started on this one.
“And what can you do, little Princess? My father strangled you at birth because you were worthless. I’m sure it’s the same here.”
“Oh, your words don’t hurt me, little mage.”
The voice that came from Magna’s mouth wasn’t her own and the colour disappeared from the mage before her.
“Did you think you could hide?” Magna continued to look at him with a tilted head.
She looked at her uncle and grinned, “I knew letting you free would lead me to this little rat.”
“My Lord, I…” stammered King Adrian.
“Seeking power in places that are meant to be protected, tisk, tisk. Shame on you. Did I not teach you better?”
Mortis was immediately chained to the floor, as was Lucien, and Rhys. Adiran dared not move. He knew this entity but had never dreamed that it would have chased him this far. Why? And why use Magna?
The thought of her mind being shredded by the powerful entity was too much for him to bear and her turned to face her.
“I wouldn’t.” sang Magna as she lifted a finger to point at him.
Adiran stopped dead in his tracks, terrified. Magna smiled at him warmly and said, “I only need a few minutes of her power. It is what we agreed upon.”
“She agreed to this?”
“One more word mage and I will stitch your lips together using her hands.”
Adiran lowered his hands and looked at his feet. Satisfied that she had cowled him sufficiently, she started walking around Kind Adrian. The man was terrified. For all his planning and schemes, he hadn’t seen this outcome. Only the Fiery and Cold ones were supposed to be here. How did this one appear?
Magna walked around the King, poking him with her blade now and again, making tisking sounds under her tongue. No, not tisking, speaking a language that no one in the room could understand. Glowing circles started to appear under the King, and he tried to protest his treatment, but Magna only placed a finger on his lips and shushed him. This spell would banish his magic. He would be powerless after all these years. He wasn’t going to stand for this.
“I can make the spell permanent if you wish.” Threatened Magna. “As it stands, you only have two millennia to serve.”
With a swift double-finger tap to the centre of the mage’s head, he sunk into the ground with a terrified scream, which was swiftly cut off.
“How many times do I need to punish this family?” Magna turned to Adiran. “He tries to take my place and you always interfere. Why?”
“Something must give.” Squeaked Adiran.
Magna set her thumb and forefinger to her chin, “Perhaps. This time I gave you an advantage, next time, you won’t be so lucky.”
Magna slapped her chest, “This one is too close to the Fiery One while her brother is too far away from the Cold One. There has to be balance. Can you fix this? Or do I have to?”
Magna raised her blade to her throat and rested the edge against it. Adiran was horrified and frozen in terror. He had never seen this possible outcome. He could feel the tears gathering in his eyes.
“I’m aware you want your own freedom. One swift movement and we’ll have better balance, don’t you think.”
“Please don’t.”
“But it’s easier. Isn’t that what you humans want, an easy way out? Isn’t it easier to sacrifice her?”
Mortis tried to open his mouth and found that he had no voice.
“You don’t get to speak now Undead; this is between me and the mortal who interferes in things they cannot comprehend.”
“Please.” He managed to squeak out.
“Please? Please?” Magna roared with laughter and a trickle of blood ran from her neck. “What do you think I am?”
The fear of terror in the room was overwhelming, especially when Magna started laughing. No one knew what was going on and even if they did, no one could do anything. Then a gentle breeze blew through the room, causing Magna to lower the sword and smile broadly.
“Well, well, looks like I underestimated the coward. Not as cowardly as his father branded him. Good boy. Hmm, if he can change his nature, then I suppose you get another chance to righten more balances. Next time, dear princess, don’t call for help when portals to powers you don’t understand are open around you.”
“And you have patience.” Came a voice from the door.
Adiran, the only one who could move, turned and found a white elk accompanied by Adrian. The boy was covered in a substance that the mage couldn’t place, and even though he had his hand on the elk next to him, the substance wasn’t staining its fur.
“Well look at that.” Magna put the sword away and set her hands on her hips.
Ignoring those around her, she stepped forward and ran her hands along the elk’s jawline. She was smiling warmly.
“You’re a sight for sore eyes, dear one. Have the Linfedrinkers finally released your soul?”
“This party did. All of them. They don’t deserve to play your games. Release them.” Spoke the elk.
Magna frowned but continued to pet the elk, now free from antlers, marking her as a doe. She was once more muttering a spell under her breath. She then reached over to place a hand on top of Adrian’s head. The boy had enough sense to read the room and not say or do anything. His sister had strange golden eyes and he was sure something was inside her body at that moment.
“You are a curse breaker, you did well.” Magna drew a deep breath. “Not the coward I first thought you were. It takes a lot to walk into a corrupted mouth and bring out innocence by only using a fraction of the magic given to you. I’ll be taking that back.”
Adrian immediately handed over the vial and Magna seemed surprised.
“I only want my sister back.” He whispered. “I don’t need that magic, but I need my sister. Please, give her back.”
Magna looked up at the elk and hung the vial over its head to rest on its chest. It remained there for a few seconds before melding into the elk’s form.
“Your heart will remain pure now.” Said Magna.
Sorry Zak, I know I randomly introduced a new character. Have fun! Do with it as you please.
