Hello everyone. I welcome you back to the Wednesday Wellbeing Club, of which I participate. Just wanted to let everyone know again that I'm alive and thriving this third week of October. Only about four weeks left in our wellbeing intiative.
I want to share with you my progress in Week 10. Also, it wouldn't hurt to share some information about the Wellbeing Club that's hosted by over in the Natural Medicine Community. The Club kicked off its initiative on Wednesday, August 11. You can join in any time by reading about it here: Wednesday Wellbeing Club | 11 August - 24 November | Week 1: Wednesday 18 August 2021.
When announced the Wednesday Wellbeing Club initiative in August, I was enthused that it fit perfectly with my new perspective of making a permanent lifestyle change. Being a part of the Wellbeing Club has given me this opportunity to address a few issues concerning my health that I have control over. The Wednesday Wellbeing Club is about making changes you desire for your overall health. Then, you work toward your goals that you set.
Once I decided to start the Wellbeing plan, I adopted the Club's Rule of Fives as my guideline. Then I tailored them to fit my personality and health agenda. It's nothing complicated. The ability to create my own Rules and work within the Club's framework is easy. That way, I'll be able to fully maintain my wellbeing plan.
Here is my Rule of FOURS for each week:
- Lose 2 lbs.;
- Enjoy 4 x 30-minute sessions of physical activity (either indoors or outdoors);
- Eat 4 x (1/2 cup combined) - portions of fruit and vegetables each day;
- Get 4 nights x 8 hours sleep.
- Carve out 4 x 30-minute sessions offline either with family or self-indulgence quiet time.
WHEN THINGS GO WRONG
I feel it's appropriate this week to revisit a previous post by in which she provided tips on how she handles issues when things go wrong and how it affects your wellbeing. She asked, "do you have any tips for when things go wrong? Because they surely will!" This week seemed to be one of those weeks where a few items offline didn't work out the way I'd hoped. I had to take a step back and figure out which direction to proceed to correct the situation.
Let's see how well I did in Week 10:
| Activity | Goal | Week 10 | To Date | On Target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weight | -2 lbs. week | -0 | -7.75 | -7.75 lbs. lost. No movement in positive direction |
| Physical Activity | 4 (sessions; 30 min. each)/week | 2 | not feeling well all week | |
| Eating | 4 x (1/2 cups each; fruits/veggies) per day | 3 | no appetite. need improvement | |
| Wellness in Sleep | 4 nights x 8 hrs. | 6 | but broken into naps. need continuous 8-hour periods | |
| Offline Wellness | 4 events | 4 | needed solitude |
Wellness: Stay Focused on My Goals
This week seemed a bit off for me. First I was under the weather. Then a malaise set in which I felt like doing absolutely nothing as far as my health is concerned. When that occurs, I need solitude to rest and think. Also some family matters needed handling. I just have to rethink a few things, then try to get back on track.
I didn't lose any weight this week. One half to one pound per week has been the normal since I started the wellbeing plan on August 11. I didn't eat my planned veggies each day. Just didn't have a taste for anything. Must be careful not to lose the momentum I've gained so far in reaching 7.75 pounds lost.
I just need to stay focused and get more continuous eight-hours or more rest. All week, I took numerous naps after taking medications.
I'll continue to strive to reach all my goals. As with any goal, some days or weeks you just can't focus on what you need to do. I'll just continue to follow my new Wellbeing Club RULES OF 4 until I can get back on track.
See you next Wednesday everyone for Week 11 of the Wellbeing Club. If you are participating in any lifestyle change program, I'd love to hear what you are doing or your program that works well for you.
