La historia de un Padre e Hija contada desde la perspectiva de una mente afectada... "The Father"
Siguiendo con la dinámica (Imposible de completar antes de los Oscars) de hacer reseñas de las 8 nominadas a Mejor Película en los Premios de la Academia, esta vez me toca escribir sobre una cruda y real historia que envuelve el amor, la responsabilidad de una hija hacia su padre que padece de una enfermedad solitaria.

The story of a Father and Daughter told from the perspective of a troubled mind.... "The Father"
Continuing with the dynamic (Impossible to complete before the Oscars) of doing reviews of the 8 Best Picture nominees at the Academy Awards, this time it's my turn to write about a raw, true story involving the love, responsibility of a daughter towards her father who suffers from a lonely disease.
"The Father" es un excelente drama, muy bien dirigido, escrito y por supuesto muy bien actuado; en esta historia vemos a Anthony un señor mayor quien está empezando a padecer la enfermedad de la perdida de la memoria, esto afectara la relación que tiene con su hija Anne quien debe lidiar con su vida personal y con los cuidados de su padre.
"The Father" is an excellent drama, very well directed, written and of course very well acted; in this story we see Anthony an older man who is beginning to suffer from the disease of memory loss, this will affect the relationship he has with his daughter Anne who must deal with his personal life and with the care of his father.
Este film significa el debut como director de Florian Zeller, quien también co escribe el guion junto a Christopher Hampton; personalmente no sabía quién es Zeller y mientras veía el film pensaba que muchas de sus escenas pareciera que estuviera viendo una obra de teatro, tal cual por la posición de la actores, cambio de escenarios y diálogos, me sorprendió cuando indague en la biografía de este nuevo director y encontrar las muchas obras que ha escrito y dirigido y las novelas escritas, me parece excelente que haya dado otro paso en su carrera como director y escritor porque nos ha entregado un gran film con un excelente punto de vista de esta historia cruda y real.
El guion es muy bueno, el desarrollo de cada uno de los personajes por cada una de las interacciones que tienen nos da la sensación de que eran antes de los momentos que vemos en esta historia y eso nos podrá dictaminar por qué suceden diferentes cosas, esto no quiere decir que sea predecible porque debemos recordar que este film es narrado desde el punto de vista de un hombre con su mente afectada, nosotros como espectador debemos ser parte del personaje principal y vivir cada una de las diferentes situaciones que vive, creo que es una forma inteligente de contar este tipo de historia que de seguro muchas personas han experimentado.
This film marks the directorial debut of Florian Zeller, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Christopher Hampton; personally I didn't know who Zeller is and while watching the film I thought that many of his scenes looked like I was watching a play, just like that because of the position of the actors, change of scenery and dialogues, I was surprised when I looked into the biography of this new director and found the many plays he has written and directed and the novels written, I find it excellent that he has taken another step in his career as a director and writer because he has delivered us a great film with an excellent point of view of this raw and real story.
The script is very good, the development of each of the characters for each of the interactions they have gives us the feeling that they were before the moments we see in this story and that may dictate us why different things happen, this does not mean that it is predictable because we must remember that this film is narrated from the point of view of a man with his mind affected, we as viewers must be part of the main character and live each of the different situations he lives, I think it is a smart way to tell this kind of story that surely many people have experienced.
Las actuaciones son un gran punto a exaltar en este film, Anthony Hopkins es un fuera de clase, es un regalo para todos ver sus actuaciones y está es una de las mejores, las diferentes facetas de "Anthony" son tan bien hecha que es imposible no sentir está clase de admiración, él es el dueño del film y es un gran logro para Zeller que pudiera contar con este grandísimo actor; por parte de Olivia Colman la cual en los últimos años ha demostrado lo buena actriz que es, en este film sigue demostrando su gran desempeño, está historia de ser la hija preocupada, con ganas que todo salga bien y que quiere lo mejor para su padre, puede encontrar una gran afinidad porque es una historia en dónde muchos se podrán sentir identificados, en la vida es inevitable no llegar a ese momento en donde debes cuidar de tus padres tal como ellos lo hicieron con nosotros en nuestro comienzo de vida y creo que por eso me gustó mucho su personaje, es un gran trabajo hecho por estos dos actores en esta gran historia.
The performances are a great point to exalt in this film, Anthony Hopkins is out of class, it is a gift for everyone to see his performances and this is one of the best, the different facets of "Anthony" are so well done that it is impossible not to feel this kind of admiration, he is the owner of the film and it is a great achievement for Zeller that he could count on this great actor; Olivia Colman who in recent years has shown how good an actress she is, in this film continues to demonstrate her great performance, this story of being the worried daughter, wanting everything to go well and who wants the best for her father, can find a great affinity because it is a story where many can feel identified, in life it is inevitable not to reach that moment where you have to take care of your parents as they did with us at the beginning of our lives and I think that's why I really liked her character, it is a great job done by these two actors in this great story.
The Father una película muy inteligente con una gran narrativa, una historia cruda sobre la vejez, el peso familiar, la empatía y la responsabilidad personal y con otros, es un drama directo y rápido y eso es algo que debe destacarse porque no pierde ningún tiempo, es un gran debut de este director francés y ha hecho un gran trabajo al llevar una de sus obras al cine, respetando su origen y lo que le ha dado la oportunidad de crear un film que ha sido nominado a los grandes premios del cine; espero que puedan ver esta gran historia, que disfruten un film como muchos detalles, que es real y que nos relata un momento de la vida que muchos temen, disfruten de Anthony Hopkins, no sabemos en qué momento se puede retirar de la actuación y si es premiado como Mejor Actor en los Oscars, entonces pensaré que lo tiene muy bien merecido, es por eso que los invito a ver a una de las mejores películas del año pasado.
The Father a very intelligent film with a great narrative, a raw story about old age, family weight, empathy and personal responsibility and with others, it is a direct and fast drama and that is something that should be highlighted because it does not waste any time, it is a great debut of this French director and he has done a great job in bringing one of his works to the cinema, respecting its origin and what has given him the opportunity to create a film that has been nominated for major film awards; I hope you can see this great story, enjoy a film as many details, which is real and that tells us a moment of life that many fear, enjoy Anthony Hopkins, we do not know at what point he can retire from acting and if he is awarded as Best Actor at the Oscars, then I will think he has it very well deserved, that is why I invite you to see one of the best films of last year.
