A thousand souls
Even so, Mark wondered if his existence had any relevance once the HOPE-067 spacecraft arrived at its destination. Or would his existence, and therefore his life, come to an end?
The days passed and Mark's depression grew to such a degree that he stopped feeding himself. It was then that I turned to the morality of the human being that lived inside him.
You may not be the man you thought you were, but it doesn't take away from the fact that the fate of 1000 souls depends on you, a job that only You can do.

Pranks & Promises
She called me to know if it was truly a prank, and I told her that Mrs. Tosin was just joking, but she didn't believe until we did a video call and she saw that I was fine.
"She still cares about you," my boss said to me immediately the video call ended.
"I care about her too, but things can't just work out, and it's better to accept that bitter truth earlier," I replied.
"Okay, if that's the case. I respect your decision, but if life brings you guys together again, don't let her go. She is a special girl," my boss replied.

The Second Plan
“So, why did you ask me out? What was all of it for?” I almost screamed.
“Because you were my plan B. You were my second plan. If all else failed and i couldn't win her back, I was meant to fall back on you. It wasn't supposed to be this way. You are adorable and one of the prettiest girls I have ever known. You brought me peace and that was why I asked you out. I didn't know I would win Abigail back.”
“And so you chose her? The girl who left you for someone else? The one who left you heartbroken?” I stood up, gripping my bag tightly.

A night to remember
I walked up to my mom and tapped her for a wake which I assumed she was sleeping but got no response. My heart picked up a racing momentum and I called out to my sister who came into the room bearing the lantern from the sitting room. I could see my mom's face more clearly then, she looked expressionless and beautiful as usual. Still confused, I opened my mom's eyelids with two of my fingers and the pupils only stared back at me. I withdrew my hands and wondered what next to do only for my sister's words to interrupt my thoughts.

Daniel's little helper
“I wish to be the president of the world” Owen, one of his students replied.
Daniel stifled a laugh as a memory of him at that age telling his mother on tape that he wanted to be in the circus when he grew up flashed through his memory.
“Owen, you can't be the president of the world. Maybe you mean the country?” Daniel said.
“No sir, the world” Owen replied gesturing with his hands, “When I become president of the world, I will be able to eat anything I like and not have a bedtime. Also, I'll be able to marry Madison” Owen replied, flashing a grin with lots of missing tooth across the class to Madison.

The Boy Who Turned Fifty-Eight
Zaya stared cautiously. “You are that evil clown? You took Almando didn't you?” She spoke with a firm expression. The fright was slowly seeping out of her.
“Almando?” The clown's composure changed for a moment as if something had hit him.
“Yes. Nana’s story is real. He found you in a chest and you took him fifty years ago.” Zaya had gained more confidence as she saw his demeanor shift.
“Al-Almando….My name is Almando.” He began to stutter. I wore the costume because I only wanted the other kids to play with me. I'm not evil.”
