Hey guys, I've been blogging on #Hive for more than a month now (37 days to be precise๐) so my introduction to the community is overdue. But hey, better late than never right?๐
My name is Boris. I am 35 years old, born and raised in Bulgaria. I was born a few years before the fall of Communism here so I don't remember much of that, and have been riding the post-communist wave of change in the country ever since (30+ years). Even though Bulgaria is now a member of the EU and NATO, we are still struggling with dealing with a lot of ghosts from the past which are still haunting us. The recent events prove that there are other countries who also have a hard time dealing with their past.
Anyhow, back to the topic, I graduated from a Foreign Language Highschool (1st language English; 2nd German) in my hometown of Lovech, then I did a double major (Business Administration/Economics) at the American University in Bulgaria in the city of Blagoevgrad. While studying there I spent 3 Summers in the States on Work & Travel (mostly work, much less travel... ๐) programs to help fund my tuition which was enormous for the Bulgarian standards. Two of the Summers I spent in Anchorage, Alaska and one in Williamsburg, Virginia. I graduated from AUBG in 2009 and have been living in Bulgaria's capital - Sofia ever since. I'm working in the field of Finance, and have been working at the same company I got my first (and only) job at for more than 12 years now.
I have been together with my GF for 8 years now, and we have a year and half old boy, who is currently turning our apartment upside down 24 times a day ๐คฃ. My main hobbies are gaming, running (ultrarunning in particular - I have successfully finished over 20 ultramarathons including CCC (Courmayeur - Champex - Chamonix in the Alps) and Cappadocia Ultra Trail in Turkey), and aquascaping.
My most recent 40x40x40 optiwhite cube ๐
I have been an avid gamer ever since I got my first PC in 6th grade. At that time Starcraft I had just come out, so my mates and I spent a lot of time playing that. In the same period dial-up connection was also becoming very popular so I also became acquainted with the "magic" of the internet (and the all the noise the modem made while reconnecting after every disconnect ๐คฃ). The internet cafes were also on the rise in the country so we also spent a lot of time in those in the next few years - playing Diablo II, Warcraft III, Half-Life, Quake 2, and a ton of Counter-Strike, of course ๐. Later I began playing World of Warcraft (somewhere at the end of Vanilla) and have been playing ever since, making it the main game I play, with the addition of all other Blizzard titles.
So basically for the last 15 years I have mostly been a Blizzard gamer which is not necessary a bad thing, however, in the past 1-2 years it turned out that Acti-Blizz were not the company everyone thought they were, so that made me venture out of their ecosystem and see what the rest of the gaming world has to offer. In the mean time I got really interested in crypto, and as I also explored the world of crypto, I ultimately got familiar with the concept of NFTs, and since I also played a lot of Hearthstone and I was relatively good at it, I became interested in the play-to-earn NFT card games. A friend of mine recommended #Splinterlands to me, so I decided to give it a shot. So here I am almost two months later. I am really enjoying the game so far and I am really excited about its future, so I did FOMO a bit into it, I won't lie. I also really enjoy the community. I follow a lot of the youtubers and, of course, hang out in most of the twitch streams (can't afford to miss the opportunity to win a giveaway here and there.. ๐). This exposure to the community also made me like the #Hive ecosystem even more, so recently I've also started playing #RisingStar (level 20 already with 25 cards and 0 dollars spent), which is a great and not demanding at all free-to-play game.
I can go on and on but I think that if you have survived reading until this point, then you deserve the reward of this being the end of my short introduction. ๐๐ I hope I did a relatively decent job of telling a bit about myself.
