My next post for the Alphabet Hunt challenge by . This time we had to find words starting with letter "J". And I found it pretty easy task, theres a lot of J-words out there to choose from: joy, jump, juice, jeans, jetpack, jerrymandering... hundreds of good words! I decided to go with these six.
J — Juniper
This was my 1st word to pick up -- cause I remembered well I have a suitable photo of it! And even the story behind it to tell...
This shot is nor great, neither artsy -- but quite personal and memorable to me: it is one of my very first test macro shots, after I obtained dedicated Tamron 60mm macro lens. This little baby tree was sitting on my window seal in a coffee cup, and was 1st thing I saw when I looked around for a test object. This is the middle of the story. And here is the beginning: we dug out this little baby-juniper at the Ladoga skerries at the top of a little rocky island; 99% it would not survive one of the windy days or one of the snowy winters... we were very hopeful it will agree to live with us at our country place. 2 years ago we planted it... and last summer -- could not find it, so, we decided the venture wasnt successful and the juniper did not survive the winter. To my greatest surprise, I found it this summer!
And this is how it looks like now; a bit taller, and seems its doing fine...
And I hope this is not a happy ending of the story (yet).
J — Jack
And now have a look at the Jack... at two four of his faces.
'Jack' is a fantastic word, it has so many meanings! you will be surprised to discover some of them... the Junior Officer in playing cards set, and headset audio connector in your not-up-to-dated iphone -- both are 'jacks'. And much more to it.
This is another set of cards from my collection -- intresting for the images used to illustrate the faces, date back to XVIII century or even earlier!
J — Jewelry
This stand I captured at the New Year Gifts Exhibition -- my 1st attempt to earn money as a professional photographer. For 2-days reportage I earned zero dollars. Actually, even less, considering my expenses :=)
But I left it with a few hundred of images. heh...
J — Janitor
Again a very nice word that may be new to non native speakers. 'Janitor' may mean a cleaner, sweeper, doorkeeper, gatekeeper, porter, guard, custodian or simply keeper. Choose any you like! But our White Guard is definitely not a doorman or cleaner :) Recently, with her leg injured in a catfight with some local Jerk, she is spending a lot of time right at our house entrance.
Also. I think, you should educate yourself about the Janitor of Lunacy.
J — Jam
I wish I could present you a Jellyfish but the nearest sea is thousand miles away from me. But I could go with a Jam! We have 3 sort of jam in our frindge -- intended to raise our survival ability here, far away from huge malls and other miracles of civilization.
There exist also other types of jam... for example, a Traffic Jam. Or a Paper Jam (the last one was my alias for a brief period when I worked at a printshop... there was a printer there, producing this sort of jam in a VERY SOLID numbers).
J — Juice
I would like to show you my pictures of collecting the juice from a birch, but they left in my archive at home. So, I go with the readymades from the local store.
All the images taken by me, as always. This round I also considered other J-words that came to my mind, but finally lost their position:
jerrycane / jojoba / jeans / jubilee
... nobody can fit an unfittable, right? // Как говорил мой старый наставник-редактор: "Нельзя впихнуть невпихуемое!
I also created an index to all of my posts for this great challenge.
