Feeling better than ever 🦾
Inviting fitness back into my life has been one of my best decisions in quite a while. I made a video and wrote about forcing myself to get active again about 2 months ago. Then last month I wrote about my progress up until then. Today I am back to talking about my time back in the gym. It has now been just over 2 months since I got back in there for the first time in a few years.
I had been missing working out for a while, but I kept putting it off. Thankfully got herself a membership and encouraged me to either go with her there or get my own at the gym nearest to me. I have been alternating between two different gyms. I go to my Snap Fitness by myself throughout the week. Then on the weekends, I go with
to Planet Fitness. I like mixing up my environment and being able to take advantage of the equipment/machines that are exclusive to either of the gyms.
Most of the time I've been going after work. I tend to get there around 7 pm and then am out of there by 8 or 8:30. Plenty of time to work up a good sweat and build some solid muscle.
I go at least 4 days a week and sometimes more. I cycle through my different muscle groups and usually just focus on the areas of my body that are not still sore from the previous days. I squeeze in some cardio during pretty much every workout. Sometimes I will do a day where it is nothing but 30 or so minutes of cardio. There were even a few nights where I did 7 miles total of cardio.
I've noticed myself not only feeling better but being able to increase my weight steadily on pretty much every exercise. This to me shows that I am making undeniable progress. I'm not trying to be a bodybuilder, I really just don't want to become a fat slug who barely gets around. I've been fast and agile my entire life, I would prefer to never lose those abilities.
We can examine the charts below and notice several things. The first chart, it shows that I am staying consistent with my exercise. I have some off days and sometimes I don't wear my Apple Watch all day. The information here gives a decent idea of my productivity in the gym.
This next chart is all about heart rate. I am impressed to see that a few times I was able to get my heart rate over 190 BPM. I am able to push myself to pretty high limits, I don't cut corners. If I'm going to dedicate some of my precious time to get in better shape, I'm going to give it my best shot.
After 2 months of getting back to it, I'm very proud of myself. I will continue to remain on this journey and update here every so often. I'm a long way away from posting a bunch of shirtless selfies flexing my muscles, but I'm happy with myself and that is what matters most. I look forward to seeing where I am at several months from now. One area I think that deserves more focus is abdomen exercises. I used to easily get all of my ab fitness in back in the day when I taught aerial yoga. I don't do nearly as much as I was back then.
Always keep a goal that way things don't get stagnant. Alright, thanks a lot for stopping by and reading about my fitness progress. Let's do this again soon.
