Mung Bean Grontol
Mung been grontol comes from a name that is commonly used by the Indonesian people. But did you know that in Aceh, where I live, we know this dish as Kacang Ijo Teu Keurabei Or in Indonesian, Kacang Hijau Aduk Kelapa.
This dish is synonymous with the addition of steamed grated coconut. It's a simple dish made with only two ingredients, but it has an extraordinary flavor.
Mung bean grontol is one of the special dishes that is quite popular in my area. This dish is usually served as a simple snack during leisure time in the village. It is also commonly used as a snack for people to take with them when they go to work in their gardens. Besides being easy to find, green bean grontol also has a unique taste and is very easy to prepare.
As someone who lives in the countryside, I am certainly accustomed to dishes like this. Here, most dishes are made using ingredients from home gardens or natural resources found around our village.
Ingredients
100 grams of grated coconut
2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1 pandan leaf
¼ teaspoon of salt

The green bean grontol is ready to serve. The green beans you use should still have their skins on. However, if you want to use peeled green beans, that's fine too. Both are equally delicious because when green beans are cooked until tender, their skins are also very tasty and soft.
The flavor is sweet and savory from the grated coconut. The combination of green beans and grated coconut is perfect, in my opinion.
