Early morning here in sunny South Africa and the house is quiet. A perfect time to present the album which slots in at #90. This former member of the Commodore was one of the most successful balladeers of the 80’s.
Lionel Richie’s album of the same name Lionel Richie, released in 1982 amassed over 4.3 million in sales and had 3 US number One singles
The ballad Truly was the first US #1 and reached #6 in the UK singles chart….
Truly
I must admit I had many pleasant interludes to this man’s music…. {grin}
Ballads aside, Lionel also delivered some infectious dance and catchy pop music. Another US #1 from the album You Are falls into this category …. Crank it up and get those feet tapping.
You Are
Okay, maybe not that funky !! I love the instrumentation… motown / soul musicians are a special breed I reckon. The music stands on it’s own , even should one remove the vocalist it would be enjoyable.
The last US #1 from the album My Love is another easy listening tune and one for your seduction playlist.
This album was certainly more pleasant to review than some of the previous … albeit far removed from my rock preference. Share your thoughts about this kind of music and the memories it brings back. I would love to hear your thoughts
As always, thanks for stopping by and your support is fully appreciated
