You order the computer to take you to U-877. As you did the computer was able to recover some of the corrupted data containing further information. It asked again if you wanted to head to the terrestrial moon it has assigned the value U-877. That to you sounded like a perfect place to set down the ship and perhaps resolve some ongoing issues.
The closer you got to U-877 the more it seemed like your home planet you had left if it was thousands of years into the past. It was untouched by man. Long-range sensors were also starting to report back data that indicated the moon might be more habitable than expected.
It seems however there are also regions in which you would not have any chance of survival. This moon was quite strange at the poles the temps could reach as high as 230 Celsius. Yet at the equator, it seemed to be as cool as 10 Celsius on the cold side of the moon.
This rather strange range of temperatures seems to cause a lot of wind storms dancing around the moon. Trying to build any kind of habitat on the surface while possible looked like it would be facing quite the challenge in 150 MPH winds.
If you had to there was an emergency shelter on board you could use. It would however be quite rough and perhaps unlivable if you were up near any of the poles of the moon. Near down the equator however it would be like camping during a fall evening with gusts of wind barking on the shelter while you tried to sleep in it.
As the ship made its way to U-877 you started to pour over the maps available from the long-range scans in conjunction with the data that could be recovered from the probe that was still orbiting the moon itself.
You were somewhat delighted to find the moon might even be a bit cooler and less windy than the probe first reported. The kind of storm that was occurring down below on the surface must have subsided. Hopefully, that is not an often occurrence.
With how rocky the moon was along with heavy vegetation. It was hard trying to find suitable landing locations that were big enough to accommodate the ship. After a closer inspection, it looked like there would be three possible landing spots you could consider.
The first possible spot was located along a long beach that seemed to on for almost forever. Only a small portion of it was open enough to land the ship on however.
Another spot seemed to put you at a base of a cave network. The computer once you got close enough was able to scan some of the cave networks and determined it went on for perhaps hundreds of miles. The scan could only penetrate so far deep into the rocky soil so it’s quite unknown how deep those caves could run.
There was one final spot in the middle of a forest. For some unknown reason, there was a giant 10-mile patch of clear land almost at the heart of it. It also looked like a river ran not that far away from the clearing.
Regardless of which location you picked. They all sounded like paradise compared to the life you left behind when you took up this mission. It would also be reasonable to consider you might not want to take the risk of landing on the moon at all. You have no idea if the ship could survive re-entry despite the computer's claims that it was possible. Even further if you could ever leave using the ship with the computer states you had a 57% chance of being successful in doing that.
There are still quite a few other locations that might be worth checking out instead. The computer awaits your next set of instructions. Will you tell it to prepare for landing on the long beach, or Cave Network, or Forest. You could also decide the risk is not worth it trying to land here and explore other areas 2-560, or Q-877 or K-TYY-3333.
