Chapter 1
Princess Eláfine and her Kingdom of LightningAir WAX NFT
Princess Eláfine remembers one hero who rescued her years ago from a tower prison: Sir Flailwild, one of the legendary Clumsy Knights of the Order of the Backwards Plume. She quickly sent her messenger racing in haste to the Kingdom of Clumsalon to seek out Sir Flailwild and the Clumsy Knights for dire help.
The Kingdom of LightningAir is being pulled by a ferocious blizzard, as if the cold winds themselves have hands, grasping the flying castle in the sky. The force is so great that our kingdom is tilting toward a vast, frozen land below.
The Kingdom of LightningAir—a highly secretive flying castle palace high above the skies of the Kingdom of Clumsalon—is known only to the Clumsy Knights. It is so hidden that not even the maps of Clumsalon show its location. Sir Pubbleglum once called this mysterious floating kingdom a "Sky Kingdom of Dreams." Years earlier, before Sir Flailwild ever knew of its existence, Sir Pubbleglum had visited it on a mission from the King to forge an alliance—one that was successfully drafted and signed by both realms. This alliance guarantees Clumsalon's protection should the Kingdom of LightningAir ever need assistance. Now, Princess Eláfine is in dire need.
The Order of the Backwards Plume received the messenger and swiftly dispatched Sir Flailwild and Sir Pubbleglum to investigate the claim and rescue the Kingdom of LightningAir from any potential danger. The Order has also ensured that several more Clumsy Knights stand ready to provide aid upon request.

The Clumsalon Lopsided Telescope WAX NFT
Sir Pubbleglum pulled out the famous Clumsalon lopsided telescope to peer into the distance and see what was taking place with the Kingdom of LightningAir. This peculiar telescope had been built by a Clumsy Knight—because, of course, that knight was lopsided himself.
In a frantic voice, Sir Pubbleglum called to Sir Flailwild, "LOOK! LOOK! The Kingdom of LightningAir is being pulled toward the Valley of IcingSnow!" With a clear view through the lens, the sky castle could be seen far above the Frostburn Crossroads—the very pathway that led to Castle Snowingtwine. A sudden chill crawled down Sir Pudbbeglum's spine at the mere thought of that dreaded place.
Sir Flailwild muttered aloud, thinking out loud, "Could it be Lord Malice's brother, Lord CatsScull of Castle Snowingtwine, has located the cloaked flying castle? Or is it simply a coincidence?"
"What do you think?" Sir Pubbleglum replied quickly. "That isn't a coincidence! Just look into the lopsided telescope. You can clearly see unnatural raging blizzards roaring—and for a second, I thought I saw large hands grabbing the castle. Hmm?"
"We know Lord CatsScull commands the freeze," Sir Pubbleglum continued. "With one look, blizzards come alive. The Princess is in dire need of our assistance. We must make haste, pack up, and do what Clumsy Knights do best: unintentionally rescue the Princess and her kingdom. And who better to ask than her hero, Sir Flailwild, and the Order of the Backwards Plume?"
As Sir Pubbleglum hurriedly packed provisions for the rescue, Sir Flailwild thought aloud once more. "This flying kingdom is supposed to be invisible to the naked eye."
He kept closing one eye, peering through the lopsided telescope, then closing the other and repeating the process. Then a thought struck him: The only way to penetrate the ancient rune magic that keeps this floating palace hidden and aloft in the sky is with ancient rune magic of your own.
"I recall Sir Bumblethorp the Tripping—er, I mean Bumblethorp the Wizard—mentioned this to me," Sir Flailwild said. "When I asked him about the Valley of DragonSwolf and what keeps that evil paradise so well hidden atop its mountain peak, Bumblethorp explained that to penetrate ancient rune magic, you must know the exact runes and the precise order in which they were placed."

Both Knights of Clumsalon journeyed deep into the newly discovered Black Dark Forest of Clumsalon, which led them onto the foreboding Shadow Whispering Trail. From there, they crossed the border into the Kingdom of Perfectia, striking northwest until they reached the eerie shores of Lake Monster. They followed the twisting shoreline all the way to the Whispering Crossroads.
Several days later, the knights embarked on a straight, grueling trek from the lake’s edge directly toward the Frostburn Crossroads. Throughout their perilous journey, they camped beneath the stars for several nights.
On their final night of camping before reaching the Frostburn Crossroads, Sir Pubbleglum gazed into the dying embers of their fire and muttered aloud, almost to himself:
“What are we getting ourselves into?
If Lord CatsScull has anything to do with this, he’s someone we really don’t want to face in a duel, right Sir Flailwild? He’s never far from that Snow Knight, Sir Vaelatious the Cold, who shadows him like a curse wherever he goes. And then there’s Sir Ascenation… that relentless snow knight who patrols these frozen wilds without rest. You told me yourself how you once encountered him and barely escaped with your life.”
Sir Flailwild’s face hardened in the flickering light. He leaned forward and replied firmly:
“I’ve dealt with Sir Ascenation before, as I told you. I managed to escape—barely. That’s exactly why we’re taking this back route and staying well clear of the main crossroads. We’re doing everything in our power to avoid them… at all costs.”

The chill wind howled across the Frostburn Crossroads as Sir Pubbleglum and Sir Flailwild huddled near their camp, the flickering light of a small, carefully contained fire casting long shadows on the snow. The air was thick with icy, misty frost, and every breath felt like swallowing tiny shards of ice.
Sir Flailwild stared calmly at the flames, holding his hands up and rubbing them for warmth, his voice low as he continued the tale. "Aye, Sir Ascenation... that name still chills my bones with the memory. He's no mere tale, Pubbleglum. The Snow Knight of the Valley of IcingSnow stands taller than most men, clad in armor forged from what looks like frozen moonlight—pale, shimmering, and sharp enough to cut the wind itself. They call him the Cold Demon for a reason. He doesn't just wield cold; he is the cold. A gesture from his hand can turn a summer breeze into a blizzard, and his gaze... well, let's just say it freezes the courage right out of a man's chest."
Sir Pubbleglum edged closer to the campfire, shivering as he listened. He adjusted the thick fur collar of his cloak and glanced nervously at the surrounding landscape. The crossroads stretched out like a vast, glittering web of ice-crusted paths, each fork vanishing into swirling mists. In the distance, strange shapes seemed to shift within the snowdrifts. Could they be...? No, no, Sir Pubbleglum told himself quietly. Then, thinking aloud for a moment, he murmured, "Snow Demons? Hmm..."
"And Lord CatsScull?" Pubbleglum asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "You mentioned he commands the cold even more fiercely than his knight."
Sir Flailwild nodded grimly. "Lord CatsScull rules the Frozen Valley of IcingSnow from his towering keep of eternal frost. They say he was once a mortal lord who bargained with ancient winter spirits, trading his warmth for dominion over ice and snow—hence the name IcingSnow. Now he sits upon a throne of everlasting ice, his red eyes like chips of glacier, and his will bends the very seasons within his realm. Sir Ascenation is loyal to him beyond question, as are the other two Snow Knights. Sir Ascenation is his champion, his enforcer. Had my serpentine fire sword not flared to life that day, sensing the lethal chill closing in, I'd be a statue in his valley still."
Sir Pubbleglum stared into the flames for a long moment, then spoke. "Then we tread lighter than mice, my friend. No boasts, no sudden movements, no threats to this frozen realm. We pass through as shadows—respectful shadows—and pray the snow demons, or whatever guardians lurk here, deem us no danger."
"Wise words," Sir Flailwild replied. "The legends say the white beasts only rise when intent turns hostile. Stay humble, stay quiet, and the path to Castle Snowingtwine may yet open without frostbite."
He rose slowly, brushing snow from his knees, and began packing their provisions once more. Pubbleglum joined him, every motion soft and deliberate. As they shouldered their packs and stepped back onto the glittering crossroads, the wind seemed to pause, as if listening. Somewhere in the distance, a low, crystalline groan echoed through the ice—perhaps the landscape settling... or perhaps something ancient stirring, watching.
The two knights pressed on, side by side, into the heart of winter's domain, doing everything they could to avoid rousing the guardians of this frozen realm. Yet their true quest lay deeper: they must venture through the crossroads in hopes of locating the Kingdom of LightningAir and rescuing Princess Eláfine. Sir Pubbleglum had a bad feeling—they were being watched, perhaps even led deeper into the Frostburn Crossroads for nefarious reasons. One careless step, one spark of aggression, and the snow demons might rise from nowhere.

Sir Pubbleglum and Sir Flailwild meet face to face with the dreadful Lord CatsScull of IcingSnow and his Frostburn Crossroads Demons. They did their best to avoid awakening the beasts, but failed.
Sir Pubbleglum smacks Sir Flailwild on the back of his plate armor.
“Look!” said Sir Pubbleglum. “It’s the Kingdom of LightningAir being deliberately dragged down onto the ground!”
Sir Flailwild thought for a moment. “Hmm… I think we might need more Clumsy Knights. We are outnumbered. Just look at those Snow Demons.”
Sir Pubbleglum, calm but in a nervous way, replied, “Look at the prize. Princess Eláfine needs us more than ever.”
Sir Flailwild grinned. “I’ll deal with Lord CatsScull. You, Sir Pubbleglum, handle the snow monsters.”
“Hey, CatsScull!” yelled Sir Flailwild in a sarcastic tone. “How’s your brother, Lord Malice? Is he still sour that we made him look silly in front of his black knights? The same knights we also defeated—haha! Come get me, you overgrown cat!”
“Sir Flailwild!” Sir Pubbleglum yelped. “What on earth are you doing? Don’t provoke him—he’s going to turn us both into ice sculptures!”
As Sir Pubbleglum spoke, trying to get him to take it back a notch, a very cold wind started blowing—like a frozen hand gripping their arms and pulling them toward the Lord.
Sir Flailwild fought hard to break free from the cold demons’ grasp, but he slipped on a patch of ice and slid down toward Lord CatsScull. He landed flat on his back and crashed right into the Lord’s legs, taking him down with him. He even managed to knock out a few Snow Demons in the process.
As this was happening, Sir Flailwild looked back to see where Sir Pubbleglum was, but couldn’t spot him. Then he glanced over his shoulder while still lying on his back—and there was Sir Pubbleglum, also flat on his back.
It looked like another classic Clumsy Knight episode. Sir Flailwild’s shield holster had caught on Sir Pubbleglum’s chainmail right below the shoulders.
Sir Flailwild, thinking out loud while still tangled up: “This seems to happen a lot more often than not, by the looks of it. The Clumsy Knights is a perfectly suited name for our Order of the Backwards Plume, wouldn’t you say, Sir Pubbleglum?” He laughed, still on his back, entangled with Sir Pubbleglum, Lord CatsScull, and a few snow monsters.
Suddenly, the other Snow Monsters in the area vanished. Even the ones tangled up with them disappeared into thin air.
Sir Pubbleglum whispered, “I believe Lord CatsScull is knocked out or something. These snow monsters have all melted back into the snow. Let’s untangle ourselves in haste so we can save the Princess from this Lord’s cold grip.”
The two Clumsy Knights quickly disentangled themselves from Lord CatsScull—but not before tying him up securely. Then they sprinted toward the Kingdom of LightningAir. The Lord had managed to drag the floating kingdom down enough that it now leaned against a shallow mountain ridge at Frostburn Crossroads. Dark red streaks cut across the sky like the fingers of a giant hand clutching the castle, and the ridge itself looked strangely artificial—as though it had been shaped just for this day.
Sir Flailwild and Sir Pubbleglum raced up the ridge and stood beside the floating castle. Princess Eláfine, sensing the cold grasp loosening, looked down and quickly helped the two knights aboard.
“Now what?” asked Sir Pubbleglum. “We’re still caught by some force—just look at those red, finger-like streaks in the sky holding us for dear life.”
The Kingdom of LightningAir began to move away from the snowy ridge. It picked up speed, faster and faster, slicing through the air like a knife in the wind, heading back toward the Kingdom of Clumsalon.
As they flew, Sir Flailwild mused out loud, “How on earth did Lord CatsScull locate this flying kingdom? And how did he send his cold, hard blizzard from such a vast distance—from Clumsalon, a place that never sees an ounce of snow? He commands the cold, so he should be locked within his own domain. Yet somehow he managed it.”
Sir Pubbleglum replied quickly, “We’ll report this to the Order of the Backwards Plume. In the meantime, we should all remain alert and on guard for possible retaliation from Lord CatsScull.”
Jokingly, Sir Flailwild said to Princess Eláfine, “Can we pay a quick visit to Lord Malice of Snootwhistle Castle in the Terrifying Valley of Gloomfen? I promise I’ll make it short and sweet.”
The Princess frowned. “Unfortunately, this flying kingdom has been on autopilot for decades.” She explained, “Every time it chooses the best spot in the sky, the carved runes glow bright and keep the kingdom shielded. The ancient rune mages did an excellent job keeping us hidden for so long—which is exactly why it’s so troubling that Lord CatsScull found us.”
The Kingdom of LightningAir finally settled into a secluded resting place high in the skies, nestled between Clumsalon and Perfectia, just east of the Shadow Whispering Trail. For many years, Clumsalon had taken great care not to draw attention to this floating masterpiece, fearing exposure to the darkest of kingdoms: the terrifying DragonSwolf.
Now that Lord CatsScull of IcingSnow knew of its existence, would he share this newfound knowledge with the neighboring Valleys of Gloomfen and the Kingdom of DragonSwolf?
Only time would tell, said Princess Eláfine, as she gazed out into the beautiful blue skies.

Gloomfen's Raided Food Stores WAX NFT
Sir Thundersnack’s midnight raid on Lord Malice’s storeroom stirred the court; the voracious knight’s accidental provocation had unleashed the Black Knight of Terror upon Castle Shearmelstrom and the Kingdom of Perfectia. Had it not been for Dame Clattercrash secretly coming to the rescue, things could have turned much worse for Perfectia.
Sir Thundersnack, the Kitchen Raider—perfectly named—is among the hungriest knights in Perfectia and perhaps in the entire Clumsy Knights world.
To this day, Sir Thundersnack still insists he was sleepwalking and simply wanted a midnight snack, yet somehow ended up on a raid hundreds of miles away in the enemy’s main food storeroom—only to be confronted by Lord Malice himself. Of course, the only things he did not eat were the raw potatoes and anything else that required cooking.
One notable thing about Lord Malice is how he feeds his minions within the castle courtyard—not out of care, but because he demands loyalty at all costs. Thus, providing food for his minions certainly ensures unwavering loyalty. It was that very food Sir Thundersnack confiscated from Lord Malice’s reserves.
Sir Thundersnack the Kitchen Raider had been sent on a training mission near the border of Gloomfen and Perfectia. He was supposed to camp near the Whispering Crossroads, deep within the thick brush. This crossroads leads to the Terrifying Valley of Gloomfen, the Valley of IcingSnow, and the Kingdom of DragonSwolf. He had been instructed to remain quiet and gather intelligence about who uses the crossroads and in which directions travelers are heading.
One night, Sir Thundersnack camped in a secluded section of the dark green forest, southeast of the Whispering Crossroads. He prepared a small fire—just enough for roasting food, but not bright enough to reveal his camp’s location.
After weeks in the wilderness, it was on this particular night that Sir Thundersnack became hungry like a wolf. He gently extinguished the fire and left his comfortable campsite to trek toward Gloomfen, having heard rumors of a vast dual food storage room. He quickly followed the Whispering Crossroads onto the Molten Trail, a path that branches into the Shadow Whispering Trail—the very route that would eventually lead him back to the Kingdom of Perfectia.
That night, he took the dreaded Molten Trail straight to the Phantom Trail of Skulls, which eventually leads to Gloomfen’s castle gates. Somehow, he bypassed the molten lava moat, walked silently across the already-lowered drawbridge, and—guided solely by his nose—located the castle’s food storeroom. The main iron gate was closed, but Sir Thundersnack’s nose found an alternative route: through an opening cellar door and down into the depths, where he finally discovered the food storage room.
After devouring everything edible, he was confronted by Lord Malice. The lord had heard rumblings in the castle’s main lobby, where he was sitting by candlelight reading a monograph on how to defeat the pesky Clumsy Knights.
Lord Malice was mortified that a single Perfectian knight could devour his entire storeroom. The food storeroom consists of two sections: one leads to the stone staircase where you enter and exit, and the other lies a meter or two straight ahead. Lord Malice wondered how on earth he could attack both at once. As he prepared to cast a temporary freeze spell on the intruder, Sir Thundersnack—quick on his feet—dashed past him, leaving a trail of food scraps behind. Lord Malice could have captured the knight then and there, but instead he placed a tracking spell on him and let him escape, faking pursuit to keep his plan unsuspected.
This explains exactly why the Dark Knight of Terror later discovered the location of Castle Shearmelstrom. Gloomfen already knew the whereabouts of the Kingdom of Perfectia, but could not pinpoint its castle, which is well hidden atop a flattened mountain terrain.

Lord Malice of Gloomfen summoned his Black Knight of Terror to investigate how a Perfectian knight had so easily infiltrated Castle Snootwhistle—relying solely on his nose. Lord Malice commanded the Black Knight to follow the tracking spell. Only Dark Knights and Lord Malice himself could see the faint, hazy glow emanating from Sir Thundersnack’s footsteps.
Lord Malice turned to the Black Knight and said, “The glow is strong—make haste and follow this food thief. He will lead us to their castle.”
The Black Knight quickly packed provisions and set off on the chase, exiting through the main castle’s iron gate, careful to keep a fair distance to avoid detection. Several days passed, the glowing footsteps persisting and guiding him steadily toward the Kingdom of Perfectia. A few more days went by, and the Black Knight finally crossed into Perfectia. But something felt off.
“The glow is fading,” the Black Knight of Terror muttered to himself. “The further I go, the dimmer it becomes.”
He grew irritated—was the spell wearing off, or did Perfectia possess a ward against dark magic? As he ventured deeper, the glow vanished entirely. Yet the Black Knight smiled, a shrewd glint in his eye. He looked closely at the ground and spotted a breadcrumb trail, spaced every few meters. He quickened his pace before the trail disappeared too.
At last, the Black Knight reached Castle Shearmelstrom. He expected no resistance—but was met with the Clumsy Knights.
“The King of Perfectia anticipated my invasion,” he muttered. “He’s enlisted aid from Clumsalon, sending three Clumsy Knights to fight alongside the Perfectian forces.”
“No matter,” he added. “They stand no chance against my Black Sword of Terror—the blade that strikes fear into all who face it.”
With ease, the Black Knight defeated them all, forcing the knights to bow before him. They complied, intimidated by the dread-infused weapon.
Unbeknownst to him, the Order of the Backwards Plume had dispatched a fourth knight: Dame Clattercrash. She had been watching from a hillside, hidden in the shadows. Moving stealthily, she believed she had the element of surprise—until she tripped over a hidden stump. She tumbled down the hill in a chaotic clatter of steel, crashing into the Black Knight from behind with a thunderous clang.
Startled and bewildered, the Black Knight panicked and retreated into the depths of the forest, limping as he fled. Another Dark Knight defeated. Another Clumsy Knight—by accident—saving the day.
Later, Sir Thundersnack gave a lively account of his escapades, boasting of raiding kitchens and outwitting terrifying foes like the Black Knights and Lord Malice himself.
