Here's my selection of music to share with you today. It's a slightly slower, softer group than usual. Maybe it's because one of the girls' chickens died yesterday for no obvious reason... or maybe it's just the way H is for me at the moment. Anyway, here goes...
Morten Harket - Kamilla og Tyven (1988 - Norwegian)
You probably know this singer as the lead singer of A-ha from the 80s. But he's done plenty in his native Norwegian as well including this beautiful song written for the popular Norwegian film Kamilla og Tyven (Kamilla and the Thief.)
A bit different to the sound we are used to from him! His voice is very agile, apparently spanning 5 octaves. Nonetheless, this song seems to perfectly fit the video - and presumably, the movie. I want to see it now.
Peter Hollens with Tim Foust - Bridge Over Troubled Water
These are two men I need to listen to more often. Peter Hollens is well known for his a cappella covers, covering a wide range of music from pop to classics to movie themes (sometimes with his wife.) While there are exceptions, almost all his work is a cappella using his voice for all the background vocals.
In this case, he has teamed up with Tim Foust whose vocal range is similar to that of Morten Harket's. Maybe slightly larger, but I didn't look that part up today. Which takes me on to today's third selection...
Home Free - Elvira (with the Oak Ridge Boys)
Another a cappella group I need to listen to more often. Many of their covers are in a very country/western style which seems to fit their natural style best. Tim Foust is the guy who covers the ultra-low bass, but his voice covers a very large range. Anyway, for this cover, they managed to get together with the Oak Ridge Boys for some Elvira fun!
Even though I'm very familiar with this cover, Tim's ability to hit that very low note gets me every time.
