Greetings!
Here is another dish that I inherited from my father (way back in the 1980s). This kind of dish is already a very delicious dish for me when I was still young (when I was at least 10 years old). In the 1980s it is kind of hard for us to go to the market (which is about 30 minutes drive) because of the scarcity of transportation.
With that being said, I think people in my town (my father included) were forced to innovate in their cooking and one of the products of that innovation is the "Ginisang Repolyo na may Sardinas at Kamote". My father would cook this dish only with Cabbage and Sardines and tomato sauce. He is not using tomatoes, green pepper, and sweet potatoes back then.
My version of this dish is a little bit different. I added two ingredients into it that my father has never been used, the green pepper and the sweet potato. Adding the sweet potato to this dish is not my original innovation (I have seen it with my high school classmate in 1998 when we got to their home after our Acquaintance Party after midnight).
My father's version of this dish is delicious enough. But it becomes more delicious after I add some tomatoes and sweet potato. Adding green chili to the recipe makes the dish more aromatic.
By the way, in our language, we call cabbage as Repolyo, tomato as Kamatis, Sardines as Sardinas, Green Pepper as Sili, Sweet Potato as Kamote, and Sautee as Ginisa.
So, without further ado, here's how I cook this very simple yet very delicious dish.

- Cabbage (500 grams)
- Sardines in tomato sauce (155 grams)
- Tomato
- Sweet potato
- Greep pepper
- Onion
- Garlic
- Salt
- Cooking oil

Wash and slice the cabbage into strips
Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into cubes (you can definitely slice the sweet tomatoes a little bit bigger if you want)
Wash and slice the tomatoes (you can definitely slice the tomatoes any way you want)
Peel and slice the garlic (you can definitely slice the onion any way that you like)
Peel and slice the garlic (you can definitely slice the garlic any way you want)
Wash and prepare the green pepper (you can definitely use more green pepper if you want)
Prepare the 155 grams sardine is tomato sauce

1. Sautee the garlic and the onion in a small amount of cooking oil
2. Add the tomatoes, add some salt
3. Add some water to boil the tomatoes
4. Add the sweet potatoes (stir it occasionally to make the tomatoes become saucy)
5. When you got this consistency to proceed to the next step
6. Add the sardines
7. Add some water (you can definitely add more water if you want, but not too much)
8. Add the green peppers, and let it boil
9. When it starts to boil proceed to the next step
10. Add the cabbage and stir until they all incorporated to the soup
11. When the cabbage is half-cooked turn off the heat and it is done, its own heat will cook the cabbage exactly as you want.
