Hey Hive!
We're back with more of our home cooking! If you're unfamiliar with this series, it's where I showcase some of the recipes we've been trying at home since we've been cooking a lot nowadays! Also I'm running out of content so yeah gotta make the most of it!
So some time back, Sean and I had bought this 2kg pack of frozen chicken we had some frozen chicken that was sitting in our freezer for quite a while since I've been so busy with stuff that I hadn't had time to cook it.

But the other day I finally found the time to cook it! So I defrosted the chicken in the fridge overnight, and by the next day it was less solid, so I could finally separate all the chicken legs! But there was a lot, and I decided to prepare 2 batches with different marinades. And the first batch I did was teriyaki! And I followed this recipe by rasa malaysia! I think the recipe does it a little differently since they didn't marinade though.
Step 1: defrost the chicken overnight in the fridge, not freezer.
Step 2: wash the chicken and marinade in teriyaki sauce. I used store bought sauce for this since I had it on-hand, but I think homemade sauce isn't that difficult to make.
While the chicken marinades, I decided to prepare garlic bread to go along with our chicken! I had a craving for garlic bread so we bought this special Multigrain Country Loaf from the supermarket and I prepared the garlic spread.

For garlic bread:
Step 1: melt some salted butter in the microwave, in increments of 10-20 seconds until it's sufficiently melted and can be spread easily.
Step 2: chop up some half a clove of garlic and mix with the semi-melted butter, then spread on the bread slices! Sprinkle some herbs on top if you want to.
Step 3: air fry the garlic bread at 135°C for about 4 minutes to get it crisp but not too hard.
Step 3:
Back to the chicken: after at least half an hour of marinading, heat up a pan on medium heat and place the chicken onto the pan. Then after about 8 minutes or so, flip the chicken over and cook for another 8 minutes, or until cooked through. Don't worry about the black parts it's not burnt its just the sauce.
I had microwaved some broccoli and carrots in water for about 2 minutes to steam it so now it was time to pan fry it with the chicken!
Step 4: Turn up the heat a little bit to get the chicken nice and browned, and toss the chicken pieces with the broccoli.
Eventually, we get this! Our chicken, broccoli and garlic bread all done and it looked and smelled so delicious!
The chicken was actually pretty good! The meat inside wasn't as juicy as I would've liked but it still tasted alright. The vegetables were nice and soft and the garlic bread was perfect! It doesn't look very toasted, but it was just right; not too hard and dry, and it was savoury goodness! Yummy!!
Overall, I think this whole meal was delicious! The chicken had some chewy parts but it was still alright. And more importantly, Sean really enjoyed it so yay!
Have you cooked teriyaki chicken before? Let me know if you have any more tips!
