Hey Hive!
We're back with more of our home cooking! If you're unfamiliar with this series, it's where I showcase some of the recipes we've been trying at home since we've been cooking a lot nowadays! Also I'm running out of content so yeah gotta make the most of it!
So the other day I came across this video called 5 Minute Easy Fried Rice and it had a pretty interesting and unconventional method of making fried rice! Since we had some leftover rice I thought it'd be perfect to try this out!
So these were the ingredients I used:
- 3 garlic cloves
- 2 eggs
- oyster sauce
- vegetable oil
- pepper
Step 1: Mince the garlic. The video actually didn't call for any garlic but I love the smell and taste of garlic so it's definitely a must-have in fried rice for me.
Step 2: Beat the eggs in a bowl.
Step 3: Dump the leftover rice into the beaten eggs and mix until well-combined. As always,
Make sure that every grain of rice is covered in egg as best as you can.
Step 4: heat up some vegetable oil in a pan on medium-high heat.
Step 5: while waiting for the oil to heat up, add some seasoning to the rice and egg mixture. I added some oyster sauce and pepper.
Step 6: Stir fry the garlic until brown.
Step 7: pour in the egg mixture and stir fry continuously to avoid burning the eggs.
It might look wet or chunky but don't worry just keep stir frying and eventually it'll look like legit fried rice!
I also air fried some seaweed chicken to add more protein and eventually we get this!
And it was actually really delicious! It tasted just like regular fried rice and was super fragrant and yummy! It might've been a little dryer that I would've liked but overall it was still really flavourful and smelled so good too! Just look at that yummy spoonful!
If you have some leftover rice and have a hankering for fried rice, definitely give this method a try! It's actually easier than the original method of cooking fried rice that I'm used to and has less cleanup as well! It might be a little weird but it still tastes good so give it a shot!
Thanks so much for reading!
