The goddess Columbia represented the early American colonies' quest for independence and fresh chances, long before Lady Liberty became an iconic image.
Asahi Refining produced these high-quality American Reserve silver bars which honor Columbia's long history.

The depiction of Columbia by Joel Iskowitz is as fine as you’d expect, holding aloft a beacon lighting the way, and holding proudly the flag of the United States of America. Dressed in flowing robes, it’s a stirring piece of art. The back of each piece features a nice leather-like texture, in which is ‘stamped’ the American Reserve logo. Inscriptions are kept to a border area. 1
The American Reserve trademark insignia is seen on the obverse of the Columbia Goddess Silver Bar made by American Reserve. The logo is made up of rocky backdrop texture with interwoven AR initials in the center. The top is decorated with crossed pickaxes, a tribute to the famous American mining industry, in addition to the Asahi mint mark at the bottom.
Who is Lady Columbia?
In 1775, the enslaved African American poet Phillis Wheatley penned one of the earliest descriptions of Columbia as a personification of the American nation: “The Goddess comes, she moves divinely fair / Olive and laurel binds Her golden hair.” Eschewing any trace of Native American heritage, Columbia derived her name from Christopher Columbus and her appearance from Greco-Roman imagery. Dressed in pristine white or draped in the Stars and Stripes, Columbia displayed the virtues that white Americans sought to claim as their own: the cap of Liberty, the sword of Justice, the olive branch of Peace, and the laurel wreath of Victory.
From the Asahi website: “We are thrilled to introduce this new collection featuring the Columbia Goddess,” explains Matt Pragg, Commercial Manager for Asahi Refining North America. ‘As the largest precious metals refiner in the United States, Asahi Refining USA is uniquely positioned to offer this product line. Joel Iskowitz’s design beautifully captures the spirit of America, and we are proud to offer products that are made entirely in the USA. We believe it will be appreciated by collectors and patriots alike."

Indeed, the new line of Asahi silver bar and silver rounds is much to be thankful for because they can be acquired at low premiums. They are silver bars and silver rounds of high quality, and they offer a variety to a regular stacker like myself.
Investing in precious metals, not just silver, is mostly done as a hedge against inflation. The value of precious metals typically increases as the value of currency declines. As a result, even in the face of economic instability, stackers holding precious metal portfolios are able to safeguard and increase their wealth. Before beginning to collect other precious metal items, many stackers in precious metals start out by stacking silver, but many silver stackers stick with silver for the rest of their lives.
Because it offers the greatest and most affordable silver at the lowest possible price, bullion is the ideal product for silver stackers. The benefit of stacking silver bars is that they allow one to acquire a sizable collection of silver with little money and little room.
