Hello gaming buddies! š®
How are you doing on this first day of a new week? What have you been playing these days? š
Personally, I didn't have too much free time for gaming lately as I was busy with a lot of other things - even took a one day trip with my family to a big city in Romania - but more about it when the time comes! š, but other than that the single game I was playing for as little as a few minutes once every 2-3 days was Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Anyway, as I noticed you sort of liked my last review which was for a simulator game called Professional Fishing, I thought I will occupy my next game review article with another simulator which is a pretty new release on the Steam market but where we can only play the DEMO version of it for now.
I don't know how many of you are aware of the thing that I am a big nerd when it comes to simulator games and I have a few hundreds of hours on record on some games from this category, but when I found out about Food Truck Simulator I said that it's a must to try it out, especially that I never played before a cooking and driving game at the same time.

I did play quite a few cooking games before as I'm pretty sure it's a very satisfying game for any girl gamer lol, and also drove cars in other simulator games such as ETS2 or ATS, but never enjoyed a game that makes a mix between the two.
Anyway, I heard that Food Truck Simulator was added on the Steam market around 22th February, but I only managed to try it out a few days later when I was really curious to test out the DEMO version after seeing all the pictures with the game which don't look bad at all!
But if you thought it's just a random game where you drive a Food Truck from one place to another and sell some food, find out that it's a lot more than that!
Food Truck Simulator starts with the story that your father had a business with food and a truck that after he passed away the car was quite neglected turning out pretty rusty and in a bad shape when you decided to take his business further and continue his work. But here's where the whole fun begins. š
Basically, you'll start this journey with 1,000$ in your pocket which you can use to renovate the truck, restore some of the items from the kitchen and even purchase a few ingredients you will use later to prepare food for your customers.
If you followed some of my previous games you will know that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE to customize stuff, lol, even if we are talking about characters or objects! š
I gotta say that I was quite surprised with how good the designs for the truck looked so it was pretty hard to decide which one to apply but I thought that one with a person eating is the most suggestive one. š
You'll notice that there are a lot of things you can customize on your truck, both outside and inside because inside of it there is a proper kitchen which comes with lots of equipment that needs to be restored but for now we'll only renovate a little part of it so we can do our job until we earn some more bucks and can take everything to a completely new level.
What I really appreciate on this game is the concept behind everything which shows that developers paid attention to details and made sure the game is a lot more than selling food as most of the games are limited to that.
But here we are talking about receipts which are slowly being unlocked the more food you sell and the level you get which is also based on the ingredients you will purchase from the shop and decide where to store it from shelves, fridge or freezer because yeah, each of these three has limited spots and it's up to you where you want to store, for example, a tomato, the burger bun or meat.
And, every single decision you make will count on how much the ingredients will last, how cool is that?! š®
A thing that I forgot to mention is that your journey begins in the garage where you'll keep your truck and renovate it, but in order to get those supplies, you need to drive to different shops and then look out for the best radar location where you can stop the truck and start selling food to clients.
And if you are used to playing simulator games and especially ETS and ATS, most likely you'll understand when I say that I was sort of frustrated to play a game where you don't even have hands so you only see the steering wheel turning left or right without someone controlling it, lol.
Happily, this problem is over now!
You can even walk out of the car and check things around you or simply move from one place to another. This is exactly what I define as having proper freedom in a game! š
A thing that I should mention is that the game looks really good, not the way it's being shown in the attached pictures, but due to playing games from an old PC that has a GTX 970 into it, I had to keep most of the settings on low or medium to reach 20 FPS, which is really not that fun! I even got a motion sickness feeling while playing because of this aspect but it's a situation that I often confront with and that makes me unable to play many cool games out there. š¢
Anyway, as soon as you find a place where to stop the truck and start selling food, one side of the trailer will be opened where you can serve your clients while preparing the food on the other side of the truck. I think that having this kind of transparency with seeing your clients and even preparing food in front of them is really cool instead of getting orders and serving food without knowing where these are coming from, lol.
Daily you'll have a target to reach or a period within you can serve your clients being rewarded with more or less money depending on how fast you are moving or if you get the right order, but as soon as this ends, you'll get EXP points which will unlock you various of other kitchen equipment you can place in the truck or even ingredients that will allow you to make new receipts.
Anyway, being just a DEMO version of the game, there are no achievements for it right now, nor an estimated date when it will be released or a price for it which most likely will be based on how many people are playing the DEMO or what's the feedback received from players. š®
Conclusions š¤
As much as I loved and appreciate the concept of the game, as much I encountered bugs in it. For example, there was this one that if you answer to your phone when you're called by someone, if you skip the conversation or move too much in the game, as soon as you close the phone there won't be any objective shown on the map so there is no chance to move further if you don't close the game and open it again or restart it from the last checkpoint.
Another bug was when you get your truck in the first place where you'll sell food that you will be requested to turn on the radio and then turn on the grill to start preparing food but if by curiosity you do another step like opening the fridge or turning on the TV, you will get stuck there without any other indications on what you should do, nor be able to do other actions around you.
One more bug was while cutting the tomato... if you cut it in more slices than 5 as is required, you will end up not being able to take the slices from the table, nor cut a different ingredient on it. Another annoying part was that if by mistake you place the ingredients in a different order or put more of a single ingredient in the burger, you won't be able to add the top burger bun or give the order. Nor throwing this to the trash can and start everything again... The single option is to restart the game again or reload from the last checkpoint that most likely will be at the store when you purchase ingredients. Such a loss of time! š”
Anyway, these are just a few of the bugs I encountered in just 30 minutes of playing the game which made me restart it countless times and start everything all over again, which is really annoying and disappointing! š¢
Did you try it? š
I know that it's a game only at the beginning and probably not too many people heard of it, but I'm curious to find out your thoughts about it, from the way it looks to the story and concept behind the game. Also, how annoyed are you to find bugs in a game? Does it make you want to close everything and uninstall the game, or you can start it again as many times is needed to be able to move further in the game?
Personally, I restarted this game around 5 times and then I simply decided to stop playing it because of the bugs that started to bother me a lot, but maybe you are not sharing the same opinion?
The good part is that the developers seem of taking note of the feedback and bugs reported by players pretty fast and update the game, but I'm really curious to see if everything will be fixed by the time when Food Truck Simulator will actually be released. If so, this will count pretty much on my rating offered to how the game looks now. š
Anyway, as I said, it's a free DEMO available to be downloaded on Steam if you are interested in trying it out and perhaps you have a computer with a GPU better than mine so you can enjoy the game graphics better than I did. š
