Hello everyone! It's time for a different kind of post š
I'm not really stepping away from the gaming articles which I used to post on Mondays but until there will be a new operation released in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which is the most played game by me during a little over 14 years since I play games, I thought that it would be nice to dedicate this day to present some of the games that I played along all these years.
Before I start writing a proper review, I'll tell you a little bit of myself so you won't think that I'm that type of girl who's playing just on the phone or has maximum 3 games played on the computer, lol. Nothing wrong with these, but I'm a lot more dedicated into this world. š
So, in the gaming area I'm known as wolfy, and no, this is not inspired after the famous streamer "Wolfy" which I actually found out about only recently, because I had this nickname for many years and it simply comes from wolf which is my favourite animal and I find myself very much into it.
Right now, I have 3,135 games on Steam which is the main platform I play games on, but there are also a few tens or hundreds gathered on other platforms too, and I have a rate of completing games of 59% which is mostly taken down by a lot of games which I own just for collection or some which are indie and didn't really make me want to try them out so far.
Anyway, long story short, I decided to begin my series of game reviews with the most recently completed one, namely Strange Brigade.
This is a game that was on my library for a long while now getting it from a bundle of games that I activated on my account for the sake of collecting more games, lol, but while my sister is also playing games and she was looking on what games we have in common that we could play together having either the multiplayer or co-op mode, we ended up trying out this one.
Strange Brigade is basically that kind of adventure game with a lot of sci-fi details such as fighting against zombies, mummies and skeletons, the action starting somewhere in the 1930s. Being a co-op game, you can pick any of the 4 characters shown above which you will play with along the whole game and where each character comes with different weapons and skills. While from time to time you will meet a treasure that allows you to upgrade or change the weapons you are playing with, the character and its special power will remain the same.
Though, keep in mind that the special power shown above can be activated by pressing the "E" key and depending on the character you are playing with, this could be more or less powerful and useful. For example, the special skill my sister had on her character was almost useless, so mine sort of did the whole thing. Unfortunately, this can't be used anytime you want, but only after you load up a sphere by killing lots of enemies.
The character I decided to play with is called Nalangu Rushida who is a female Maasai warrior from Kenya that in the past was part of a witch-warrior cult where her duty was to protect the people from her tribe from demons and creatures of the night so she sort of knew what to expect from this game and I had no doubt that it will resist so well.
The character picked by my sister is Gracie Braithwaite who has nothing to do with what the game is about and the challenges that will appear along the way, so her skills are perhaps the lowest from this game but which is ok to play with if you are playing this game in co-op mode and someone picks a powerful character to accompany you the whole way. š¤
Anyway, the best part of the game is perhaps, the exotic view which always comes with some stunning landscapes to admire during the cinematics and when you finish a chapter, but keep in mind that at the end of each chapter there is a kind of boss fight which will come with tens, sometimes hundreds of monsters to kill before being able to attack the boss.
There is a total of nine chapters open for everyone who owns the basic game, but there are around 2 more that you can play only if you also own the Season Pass which comes with even more characters to pick from, new weapons and more.
Since we didn't own the Season Pass, we resumed our gameplay only on the main story and completed some of the secondary missions which often comes in form of doing puzzles, riddles, or finding specific details on the map.
We actually attempted completing all of the secondary missions, but sometimes the game will direct you only on the main story and lose some of the aspects so here comes a big minus for Strange Brigade.
The 2nd minus is for the narrator which kind of takes its job of telling a story way too seriously, with the specific English accent and bad jokes that are not as funny as he thinks. At first, I thought that maybe it was just me and that I will get used to it the longer I play the game, but I was wrong because this actually becomes a lot more annoying and made me be distracted from focusing on the story sometimes when I was hearing his exaggerated intonation.
I've also read about what other people who completed the game say about the narrator and it looks like there are quite a few other weirdos out there who are thinking he is rather annoying than funny. š
Like any other game from Steam, Strange Brigade also comes with a list of 60 achievements that you can unlock by simply playing the game or doing special tasks such as finding all the relics, diaries, killing 3 enemies with just one shot, completing the game on the extreme difficulty, and other similar requests that would mean to explore the game a lot more and spend more time playing it. Maybe even replaying it a few times.
Though, either if you unlock all the achievements or not, this won't come with any reward other than the 100% completion rate next to it.
Conclusions š¤
I usually don't give a chance to the games that don't catch my attention and curiosity from the first 2 hours played, but since it's one of the few co-op games that I had in common with my sister we both thought that we should play it till the end.
Though this is a pretty intense game while fighting with tens of enemies at one time so there's not too much time you have for breaks while playing Strange Brigade. In plus, it's also quite gore and with too much violence for my taste so that's why I gave it only 3x ā but I think it could be a lot more fun if you make a full team of people to complete this with and play it in 4 instead of 2 like we did.
Also, being my first game review, I don't know what you think about it, if it's too long or too short, too subjective or not, but since I try to stay away from revealing any spoilers because no one enjoys playing a game anymore if s/he knows parts of it already, that's why I tried to share a pretty general review with a few subjective opinions because that's why is called Personal Review, right? š
Did you play it? š
What about you guys? Did you play Strange Brigade already? If so, what are your thoughts about it?
P.S.: This game is currently on sale on steam until 3rd February, with 90% off so if you would like to try it out, now it's the time to grab it for just 4,99⬠instead of 49,99⬠as it usually costs. šāšØ
