Hello gaming buddies! š®
I hope you have a stunning beginning of a new week but if not, I'm here with my weekly review and recommendation of a game that maybe you'd like to try out in the near future so let's see what this Monday came with, shall we? š
Since you already saw the name of the game in the featured image and in the tile of this article there is not a surprise anymore, so Professional Fishing is going to be my pick for this week in terms of games that I played and I'll write about with a smile on my face because I did have lots of fun in a little bit over 25 hours spent in the game. š
But to start with the beginning, I was actually looking up in the Steam market for a game that involves fishing activities because my father always loved this activity but I never thought there is too much fun doing it in real life since you sort of harm some animals, so what better way to enjoy this activity if not in a game? š
Both I and my boyfriend were looking on the market with the main purpose of finding something co-op to try out and play together but which is also relaxing because our daily routines were pretty stressful back then.
If you'll look on the Steam market you will notice that there are quite a few fishing games with prices between 0$ and maybe 30-40$. But since I never played a game like this before, I thought that I should better start with a FREE one and see how much the activity catches my attention and if it's worth the investment, then I'll do proper research and purchase one.
Though, as soon as I and my boyfriend installed Professional Fishing on our computers, the hours started passing and we figured out that it's a really nice game considering that it's free-to-play and that we will spend a little bit more time in it before searching for something new.
To make this a lot more clear, we are talking about a simulator game which is not really following a storyline because its name says basically all you are going to do in the game, so don't expect to have a huge variety of activities because you'll be disappointed.
The variety comes in terms of fish you can catch, their weight, their rarity, their value, and also in rods and all the fishing accessories you can purchase from the market to make your fishing activity more or less hard, pleasant, boring, or to simply level up and put your hands on some high-end equipment.
You are also able to personalize your own character, but don't expect to get to customize this one as it happens in The Sims or Cyberpunk which are very detailed, lol. Though, it's enough to make you feel a little bit closer to the game and being able to take your own decisions in terms of the way the character looks instead of starting the game right over and have no idea how you are looking like.
As soon as you are doing that, you get to pick what map to play on, as well as the server, which will turn out in either finding other players on the radar or not. But from my own experience, as much as I enjoy silence, solitude and finding a peaceful location, it will be really boring not to see other players trying their luck in the location where you are fishing, or to see on the top of the screen what is catching everyone and how big the fish is. Which will contribute to a little challenge on trying your best and getting the biggest fish from the radar, lol.
Though, that's not an easy thing, so do expect to have your bait stolen or even see your rod getting broken because you never know what monsters are down there into the underwater life, and not for a few times I got through the situations mentioned above or even run with the rod in my hands around the lakes with the hope of getting the fish closer to the shore. š
I think this is perhaps my first fish caught in the game, but it was only at the beginning when I and my boyfriend were still figuring out how things work and how to level up and get more professional equipment, so as soon as we did that we started catching some serious fish, the biggest catch being a catfish of around 12 kg. šŖ
Amongst the things that I really liked about this game, is how big the maps are and that you can even buy an ATV to move faster or a boat to get in the middle of the lake for some more professional fishing activities, so the thing that you have to level up in order to become better at this game, turns out more challenging and enjoyable than I expected. š
Another thing that I think it's really important to mention is that there was implemented an advanced artificial intelligence which will come with different weather conditions but also various behaviours fish have which weights more on the efforts you will make to catch a fish and see who is going to be the winner between you and the tiny animal.
If for example you are confronting a rainy day or plan to catch some catfish which you can get more easily at night, you don't have to wait for the time to pass because you can always set up a tent on the ground and sleep how much you want and wake up at the time you think you will score some new records in terms of rare fish and some big ones! How cool is that?
If you think it's not enough to have your friend or random players next to you and see them catching fish while you are not, then find out there is an advanced multiplayer system that you can enjoy in Professional Fishing which comes with tournaments, fishing clubs and duels. If I'm not wrong, I think this is the single fishing game that offers this experience yet. In plus, this also comes with some top-notch prizes depending on the rank you are classifying yourself on!
I won't lie, this is perhaps the single thing I haven't experienced in the game yet, but if you are part of different communities and know you are able to gather some friends to play the game with and form a team, then this game is definitely for you. In plus, you never know what new friendships will be born from the same passion that connects people more than reality! š
Conclusions š¤
If you are a fan of the simulator games or relaxing games in general that don't follow a specific line other than doing the same activity over and over again but still being different every time, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this game. Not to mention if you like catching fish in real life too. š
Another thing that for me came as a bonus is that you won't be limited on catching just 2-3 fish every time because each region and location has its own breeds and it's also a great way to learn some new ones or how to make the difference between the breeds because they all look different and have their own behaviour.
Since this is a game that doesn't come with any achievements I think it would make the experience even more challenging to have some goals to follow, like reaching a specific level or catching a number of fish from the same breed or some heavy ones. This is the single thing I'd add to the game right now, but for a FREE game, I think everything is pretty good. š¤
Another big PRO for this game is the artificial intelligence with the different weather conditions that do test your fishing skills and knowledge which breeds you can catch at night and which during the day, as well as what rain means for a true fisher on its way to catch more fish. For me, this game came with more strengths than many games purchased before no matter if they cost 5$ or 50$, so I strongly recommend it to anyone, even if you are not a fishing fan. š
Did you play it? š
I'm sure that I'm not the single one confronting on finding some fun co-op games out there, so perhaps you already tried this out for yourself and can share your thoughts about Professional Fishing? š
If not, even if you are not a professional gamer maybe you are practising this activity in your free time in reality which it's important too because, for some usual people like me, you need quite a bit of time to learn when to pull the rod or make the difference between a wave or the fish which is trying to get out the bait from the needle.
Doesn't it already sound like fun to try it out? Let me know down below in the comments! š
