My next post for the #AlphabetHunt challenge by . This time we had to find words starting with letter "P". There are thousands and thousands of intresting P-words, each one is better and more promising than another, so choosing the wordpicks was the hardest part! By the way, let me make a little side-step. You will be surprised to know, but in some way P appeared the basement of this challenge construction. Why? We talked with
one day, I told her about one of
's weekly missions I took part and enjoyed very much: the goal was to find six words starting with P, and take the pics. We loved that idea, and I hope it was maybe sort of a small seed, that developed into this huge hive story :P
So... this week I had hard time on decisions. A lot of wordpics I eventually ditched at the last minute, even having an excellent pictures in my pocket (maybe I should create another leftovers / part two for visual pleasure?):
postage / perforacia / package / paper / periwig / portrait / pipe / police / pound / pair / prizma
Nobody can fit an unfittable, right? // Как говорил мой старый наставник-редактор: "Нельзя впихнуть невпихуемое!
P — Peeping
Girls curiously watching what is happening in the basement. They found a hole, and peep for the action, staying unnoticed! Those twins belong to one my good acquaintance. Beautiful infants!
P — Poetry
I live at St.Petersburg, which is often called "the cultural capital" of Russia (in contrast to the traditionally merchant Moscow, which concentrated all the money and administrative power of the country). There can be found many signs on the streets, speaking for that vividly. Sometimes, one can find even Poetry! This one is signed by the nickname "Ponikshiy" (i.e. I have found a double P in this case! nice).
Located at one of the passages thru the Obvodniy channel.
Graffity found on the streets are quite different ( captured a lot of intresting ones, and presented in her posts here) -- and reveals the high cultural level of city habitants!
P — Picturesque / Painted
These fine leather shoes by Spanish El Naturalista brand have got some creative improvements made by the children - they did their best! I captured this at 'The Inks of the Childhood' festival a few years ago. Painted shoes were left to dry, and on the last day of the festival it was Possible to Pick up the final art-Product for the memory Purposes, or for further use. An unusually Picturesque result!
P — Patina
Patina is this green "traces of time" mark on bronze monuments, coins, etc. - it is actually just a copper oxides film. It can be natural, and can be artificial, too: restorerers create it to protect the bronze itself from time (the film covers the metal from further destruction - oxidation). Such green spots are certainly associated with something ancient, vintage. The one on the photo, I think, is artificial.
P — Portsigar
I love nicely-made vintage things; probably all of us do. I do not collect them (I wish I could afford that! but I have nor room, neither money for that). This year I happily had a chance to lay my hands on this beautiful stuff -- handmade soldiers portsigars from 1941-1945. I was involved into creating an art album with all those images, took hundreds of photos and spent even more hours editing them. It was a fantastic project!
I still have a wooden smoking Pipe laying at my desktop. Firstly I wanted to include it to my post, but then I changed my mind -- as portsigars are more Picturesque.
P — Pumpkins
Autumn is for Pumpkins! Those excellent editions I captured last september at St.Petersburg's local market.
All the images taken by me, as always.
I also created an index to all my posts for this great challenge:
