El pasado 30 de septiembre asistí a un evento en la ciudad de Maracaibo y me gustaría contarles al respecto. Doobar es un local muy conocido en la ciudad que organiza actuaciones musicales con regularidad, pero lo que hicieron en esta fecha fue algo fuera de lo común.
La noche se preparó como previa de un evento mucho más grande. Los días 29 y 30 de octubre se celebrará la edición de Halloween de Happy Con. Para dar una muestra de lo que está por venir, quisieron preparar un pequeño adelanto de sus atracciones, y Doobar fue el lugar elegido para ello.

Last September 30th, I attended an event in the city of Maracaibo and I would like to tell you about it. Doobar is a well-known venue in the city that organizes musical performances regularly, but what they did on this date was a bit far from the ordinary.
The night was prepared as a prelude to a much bigger event. On 29 and 30 October, the Halloween edition of Happy Con will be held. To give a taste of what's to come, they wanted to prepare a small sample of their attractions, and Doobar was the place chosen for that purpose.

Tuve la oportunidad de participar esa noche apoyando a la banda Cero Contexto, ya que tengo una conexión familiar con el cantante principal, Kris Joker. Ellos constituyeron la actuación principal de la noche, y como fotógrafo aficionado, quise aprovechar las características del evento para avanzar un poco en mi formación fotografiando a la banda.
La fotografía en movimiento es extremadamente complicada, pero me interesa mucho. Por eso, a pesar de las limitaciones de hardware, no quería dejar de intentarlo. Ahora puedo decir que el trabajo estuvo lejos de ser perfecto, pero siento que valió la pena.

I had the opportunity to participate that night supporting the Zero Context Band, as I have a family connection with the lead singer, Kris Joker. They made up the main performance of the night, and as an amateur photographer, I wanted to take advantage of the characteristics of the event to advance my training a little taking pictures of the band.
Photography with scenes in motion is extremely complicated, but it interests me a lot. That's why, despite the hardware limitations, I didn't want to stop trying. I can say now that the work was far from perfect, but I feel it was worth it.

Tomé una sencilla cámara Sony de 2007 y empecé a capturar. Me llevó un tiempo averiguar cómo aprovechar las escenas; cómo lidiar con las luces; y cómo evitar que el movimiento afectara a las tomas que ya estaban dando resultados bastante pobres.
Usualmente el fotógrafo es más importante que la cámara. Creo que si llego a un nivel superior con las herramientas que tengo a mano, cuando tenga herramientas profesionales, el resultado será mucho más satisfactorio y completo.
El repertorio incluía, principalmente, openings bien conocidos de series de anime. Hubo temas de Naruto, Pokémon, Saint Seiya y algunos otros clásicos. Estuve tripiando mientras tomaba las fotos.

I took a simple 2007 Sony camera and started shooting. It took me a while to figure out how to take advantage of the scenes; how to deal with the lights; and how to keep the movement from affecting the shots that were already giving pretty poor results.
Usually, the photographer is more important than the camera. I believe that if I reach a higher level with the tools I have at hand when I have professional tools, the result will be much more satisfying and complete.
The repertoire included mainly well-known openings of anime series. There were songs from Naruto, Pokémon, Saint Seiya and some other classics. I was rocking hard while taking pictures.

La noche contó con otras cosas interesantes para ver. Mis amigos de Frente Dancing Stage trajeron sus consolas al evento. Los videojuegos estuvieron presentes en la velada y muchos disfrutaron de la experiencia.

The evening had other interesting things to see. My friends from Frente Dancing Stage brought their consoles to the event. Video games were present that evening and many enjoyed the experience.

Para cerrar adecuadamente, se decidió reconocer a los que llevaron cosplays y dieron un ambiente especial a Doobar. La ganadora fue esta chica que hizo una excelente interpretación del Hombre de la Motosierra en versión femenina. Pero, aunque el disfraz le quedaba muy bien, para mí está mucho mejor sin la máscara.

To close the night it was decided to recognize those who wore cosplays and gave a special atmosphere to Doobar. The winner was this girl who did an excellent interpretation of Chainsaw Man in a female version. But, although the costume looked great on her, for me, she looks much better without the mask.

También tuvimos otras buenas actuaciones relacionadas con el mundo del anime. Y no podía faltar la psiquiatra/psicótica más icónica del cómic.

We also had other good performances related to the world of anime. And we couldn't miss the most iconic psychiatrist/psychotic in comics.
