I hope you guys are doing well and in this time of lockdown and social distancing, we need to try our best to be at home and this way we can continue to support our family, government and community.
While we are at home there is a lot for us to do which we can base on our interest and it could be trying new things or even learning new things. Today in this post I am going to share my today's cooking that I did for traditional Indian food and I feel sometimes it's good to have traditional food with family. In North India there are a variety of food options available however today I tried with Chapati Ladyfinger vegetable along with cucumber salad. This is a kind of food that looks very simple bar filled with taste and safety and nutrition included because there is very little oil and spices are used to cook this food.
You may find this food very simple But let me tell you that it's the best for health and you can have it as much as you want without even worrying about fat and unnecessary spicy ingredients. I usually cook this type of food in dinner so that we enjoy as much as we want without even thinking of over-eating because its full of healthy nutrients, taste and no fat at all.
We often eat outside and we all know that the food cooked outside is full of oil and many other ingredients which are not very good for health and even if you are the ingredients you are not even sure of but the food we cook at home is very good for health because we are very well aware of every ingredient we use while cooking. I like eating outside but I also prefer cooking at home for 4 to 5 days at least so that we enjoy a healthy lifestyle along with healthy food. Now since lockdown is already going on and this time most of the restaurants are closed so I am using this time to cook some healthy foods few times in a week and this is the one out of it.
I used very few ingredients to cook the vegetable of Lady Finger an I list out here-
- Cummin Seed Half Spoon
- 2 Spoon Cooking Oil to fry Cumin seed
- 1 Chopped Onion and 4 chilies
- Lady Finger
- Salt as per taste
- Garam masala half spoon
- Turmeric powder half spoon
I chopped 1 medium size opinion along with 4 green chilies to have a medium spicy taste and also cut the ladyfingers before starting cooking.
Next, I put the frying pan on the hot plate and after 1 minute once it became hot then I poured the cooking oil and cumin seed.
I kept it moving for about 2-3 minutes and when onion color turning out to be brown then put the cut vegetables in this.
Thereafter I put salt, turmeric powder, garam masala and then put the flame on low to cook it for 10 minutes. Ladyfinger vegetables need to cook on low flame and we need not pour water to make it dry and while cooking it on low flame it gets wet automatically. I moved it 2-3 times to ensure that its cooking equally and it was ready after 10 minutes.
By the time it was cooking on one hotplate five prepared Chapati in another and it took only about 10 to 15 minutes so after 15 minutes, I had Chapati along with Ladyfinger vegetable ready altogether. I prepared cucumber salad as well to make it a better combination. So here I present what I prepared today-
There are a huge variety of food in North India and traditional food is so popular and tasty as well. I also like trying different food but I like traditional and home-cooked food as well. As a mother and homemaker and I ensure that my family enjoys home-cooked food more and only on weekends we go outside for food. Its good to try outside food but home-cooked food is way more healthy and thats why I prefer my family to follow a healthy diet and enjoy healthy food as well.
Dinner with this home-cooked Indian traditional food was so yummy and amazing and we had awesome dinner time together. I am trying various food dishes this time of lockdown and making the most of this time. Salad is very healthy option to have along with food and cucumber is my favourite
