Sup gearheads?
Anyone ready for a jump back in the '50s? Count on me! š
Perhaps only the real fans of these gems on four wheels will remember that 1950 represents the beginning of some of the most memorable decades of the automotive industry with some powerful cars which you will fall in love with, pretty quick! š
While I am a geek for the new models released in the 21st century, as well as the electric and hybrid cars, I have to admit that I managed to participate in some exhibitions of classic cars and no matter how much technology and this industry evolves, you will never be able to compare the current models with those from the '50-'70s which both look and are very precious vehicles.
Happily, the brand new Live Summit that was just released in The Crew 2, comes with the possibility to drive some impressive cars that are part of the weekly event called pretty suggestive Back to the 50's, coming with 9 races to be completed between 2nd - 9th March:
- Slalom - being required to make slaloms on a circuit and collect at least 4,810 points to move further. [No Restriction Race]
- Escape - where you are needed to drive 1,010 meters away from a marked area on the map on an off-road trail. [No Restriction Race]
- Aerobatics - where you have to fly a plane and match some figures shown in the air to collect points. You need at least 4,980 points to qualify further. [No Restriction Race]
- Drag - a less common race for the Live Summit events, but where you have to drive a very powerful car on a specific area and reach some of the highest speed and best records out there. In this case, you have to beat 00:15.500 minutes. [No Restriction Race]
- Street - a pretty basic race held on the streets of the US where you can drive any vehicle you want but with the request to finish the race on one of the Top 3 positions. [No Restriction Race]
- Street - a 2nd street race but where this time you will get to enjoy a car from the '50s, where again, you have to get on one of the Top 3 places. [Cyclone XP 74 Concept required]
- Aerobatics - one more race in the air but a premiere for the Live Summits because this time you will have to do real acrobatics to gain points which is not an easy thing. The required amount of points to qualify further is 3,000 points. [No Restriction Race]
- Touring - a proper race on a circuit where you compete against other racers and have to cross the finish line amongst the first 3 players. [No Restriction Race]
- Touring - similar to the previous one but where you have to drive a specific vehicle this time. You still need to reach Top 3 to win this. [R Uhlenhaut Coupe required]
While only thinking about being able to drive some of the cars that were part of a classic era sounds pretty exciting, I honestly didn't have too many expectations as I made the bad mistake of presuming that those cars are far from being as powerful as these from the 21st century.
Anyway, as you have probably expected, we are talking about very powerful cars, so don't wait to be able to take a nap while driving those beasts because not only that they come with lots of elegance and beauty, but also with adrenaline and competition that everyone loves. š
Along with the things already mentioned, we have two more premieres amongst the Live Summits presented so far, namely that there are 2x Aerobatics races - so if you are a fan of flying planes, you are definitely going to enjoy this, but there is also the Drag race which is not so often met in this kind of weekly events.
However, even if we have 2x Aerobatics races, they are very different from each other because the first one is based on matching some figures on the air which is pretty easy, while the second one only comes with lists of 3 tasks each with acrobatics you should make, having a break between every list of 30 seconds that represents a freestyle period when you can literally do anything you want to gain more points.
And I know that this might sound pretty fun, but the 2nd one is quite hard and I always hated this type of race which can also be justified through the score I got on it, lol. š
Nevertheless, the title of today's post is Back to the 50's, so we should see some classic cars, aren't we? š
The event comes with only two races where a specific vehicle is required, so if you are already owning these as I did, you can relax and forget about spending any bucks this week. However, the first one you should buy is the one from the picture attached which is pretty destroyed on my end, lol, but the picture was taken as soon as I finished the 6th race driving it.
I know it's a Cadillac and perhaps everyone expects to see a very unique car, but all the details from this gem on four wheels make it so beautiful even after more than 60 years since it was released!
As I explained in my previous post, even if these weekly Live Summits are coming with a specific theme, there are only two races where you will see the theme being respected (unfortunately!), so the 2nd race where you will get to enjoy driving another classic car is the last race where you are going to basically drive a Touring Car on a Street Race trail.
This doesn't mean the race is going to be harder but you might encounter some difficulties handling the car depending on the trail you are following because the vehicles from the Touring category are usually made to be driven on circuits and not on the usual streets of the US.
Other than these, the rest of the races were pretty basic with the not missing Escape one that makes it almost impossible to reach 100,000 points on it lol, and the Drag race which is not so often met in these Live Summits but which really depends on how upgraded your vehicle is and if you change gears on time.
Personally I still dream to attend on a real event where I see these Drag vehicles in action because they look so different from our reality and I know there are some competitions held in Romania too.
What about you though? Did you ever see this type of vehicles in real life? And what classic car do you enjoy the most? š
Can't wait to find out!ā¤ļø
