Hey, hey my gaming drivers! ๐
While Valentineโs Day is just around the corner, it looks like The Crew 2 didn't forget about it and managed to set up a new Live Summit based on the celebration that people enjoy more or less, but it's also a nice way to consider the game itself your valentine if you don't know how to spend the next few days in your life and want to stay away from all the pink landscape, lol.
It's actually not the first time when I get to play this type of Live Summit in the game because I remember having the celebration held even in the previous year when everyone could claim for a free a teddy bear holding a heart which could be placed on top of a car. What a lovely memory! ๐ป
Anyway, let's better dig deeper into this event that can be completed between 9-16th February and which comes with plenty of missions to enjoy, but also with new tasks for the Motorpass that we will find out more about a little bit later:
- Speedtrap - being required to cross a specific area on the map with a speed bigger than 200 km/h. [No Restriction Race]
- Escape - where you are requested to drive a boat on the water for no less than 1,100 meters away of a specific radar location. [No Restriction Race]
- Low Altitude - where you are needed to fly a plane and keep it as low as possible to collect at least 5,170 points to move further. [No Restriction Race]
- Monster Truck - a pretty rare race during the Live Summits but always a great chance to try out something new collecting no less than 26,000 points through acrobatics to have the race marked as completed. [No Restriction Race]
- Street Race - a first thematic race on the streets of the US driving a specific car where you have to finish the race on one of the Top 3 positions. [Rdo LP 570-4 Superledgger required]
- Street Race - still another race on the street but this time with more thematic ornaments and curves that will test your driving skills. You also need to be amongst the Top 3 players when crossing the finish line. [E-Type Series 1 Coupe required]
- Rally Raid - a first off-road race held in the desert where time is your single enemy and to beat it you have to complete the race faster than 03:59.388 minutes. [No Restriction Race]
- Rally Raid - similar to the previous one but this time the whole action is split between the circuit and off-road paths. Reaching the end of the race before 05:571.000 minutes it's also a must here. [GTO The Judge required]
- Hovercraft - it's the race that represents a premiere for the Live Summits especially since I make this kind of posts and it's a race held on a different trail than those which should be used. However, to complete the race you have to beat the score of 02:47.773 minutes. [No Restriction Race]
Hmm, hmm... what to start with? ๐ค
The first thing I thought about is that we finally see some sort of order on the races every Live Summit comes with because usually, all the races have a random order. For example, you wouldn't be able to see two street races one after another (applies to any discipline), but somehow the developers of The Crew 2 worked a little bit on that having 2x Street Races following each other, and also 2x Rally Raids.
I'm putting the accent on that because every single discipline from the game has its own driving requirements and sometimes it's hard to play a street race, then an off-road one, and then return to the street because this will affect your driving skills if you are not able to adapt them pretty fast. To avoid this kind of experience, I was always picking the street races first, then the off-road ones, finishing the event with those from the other categories which are often less met in the weekly events, but this time everything seemed a lot more clear and fun! Cheers to that! ๐
Anyway, to start the commentary of the races from the My Valentine Live Summit, I'd like to begin with the street races which were my favourite out of all 9 played, due to the new decorations added. I know these are not so visible in the screenshot taken above but if you pay attention you will notice a pink arrow in the distance. This kind of arrows accompanied the whole ride and I wish I would take more pictures of these but sometimes it's hard to take your hand off the controller when you have a 345km/h speed, lol.
I won't comment anything on the rally raid races as they were pretty common since I already knew the trails. The single challenge for me was to use some specific vehicles which are not amongst my favourite ones and so I had to first get used to their handling, but at least I got to hit the 100,000 points goal I always set to myself for each race played. The single exceptions here were the Hovercraft and Low Altitude one where you already know that I'm not a fan of driving planes, especially when I have to keep them as low as possible to the ground because it's really hard to sneak with it through the forest and other obstacles.
Perhaps you noticed a new word in my The Crew 2 articles, namely Hovercraft which is a discipline that we never met before in the Live Summits and most likely you don't know what's everything about unless you are also playing the game. ๐
When I first discovered this discipline in the game, I thought it was the weirdest thing I could discover in the game because it's a boat that can be driven both on the water and soil without losing too much speed, so I'm still curious if this kind of vehicles even exists because to me it seems as the most challenging vehicle.
I know that maybe you'll ask yourself what's so interesting on a boat that can be driven also on the soil because most likely it's driven the same. The answer is absolutely NOT.
It's true that it reaches the speed faster while being on the water but it's also a lot harder to control when turning the steering wheel to the right or left, while on the soil you can drive it by making drifts similar to the Rally Cross races. Anyway, I've never been good on driving this vehicle so I sort of accepted the score I got at the end of the race.
Oh, and remember: don't ever make the mistake to use the turbo during the race. On the first curve, it will be literally impossible to control the vehicle. The turbo comes useful only while taking a curve so you attenuate the skidding! ๐
The Monster Truck races are also something that you don't meet to often in the weekly events but My Valentine seems like wanted to bring this a little bit closer to the MT fans with a race that it's actually part of a previous season where you don't compete against time or other players because you actually need to collect points by either doing acrobatics or hitting various objects placed on the ground.
It's true that you don't have the whole time in the world to score the record you want, but the time offered by the game is more than enough to complete the race and collect the requested amount of points. You actually have some spare time to do extra acrobatics on the ramps to get more points because this type of races is usually played in a crew to reach a higher score.
Anyway, it was still fun to play this as it's one of the seasons I enjoyed the most and I will always play these races with a smile on my face. Have you also played it? ๐
Talking about previous seasons it's a little bit weird since there is a new season currently going on and today not only that it brought a brand new Live Summit to enjoy for a week, but also 5x daily challenges and 3x weekly tasks that you complete for the total of 70 Motorstars where each 10x Motorstars mean a new level.
As soon as I finished playing My Valentine I jumped into completing the daily tasks and then look for what weekly ones I could play for some more levels earned on The Contractor Episode 2 season. While in the previous week the weekly tasks looked a lot more challenging and hard to be completed, this time we are talking about some easy ones that anyone can play in less than 30 minutes.
There are only two out of the three new releases that I completed actually, but this brought me to the level 47 which is just 3 levels away from the maximum level which I'll surely reach by the next week when a new Live Summit will be released. It's true that I haven't really gamed in the last few days as I had other things to deal with, but I'm happy that I managed to get so far already and also get a nice amount of bucks that will be safely stored until a new Live Summit pops with the request of buying some vehicles that I don't already own.
What about you though? How often are you requested to buy new vehicles during the Live Summits and how do you manage to collect the requested amount faster? Also what do you think of this season that it's based on either delivering people, packs or animals to specific destinations? ๐
Personally, I think the developers could work a lot more on this aspect for a more pleasant and realistic experience while playing but I sort of got used to it and I hope the next season will be a better one even if it's still early to think about it. ๐
