[ESP/ENGL] Cinco sabios refranes venezolanos (Trigésima Quinta Parte) // Five wise Venezuelan sayings (Thirty-fifth part)

ESPAÑOL

1) “Del lobo, un pelo y del miserable, un centavo.”

Este refrán agrupa realmente a dos dichos, y ambos expresan la imposibilidad de que ocurra algún evento, ya que es muy difícil y poco probable que se le pueda quitar un pelo a un lobo y quedar vivo, como también es imposible sacar un centavo a un miserable, así que es un refrán utilizado para señalar que es muy difícil, sino imposible, que ocurra algo en específico.

2) “Donde veas perro flaco, no te quedes.”

Cuando en una casa se ve a un perro bien alimentado, esto quiere decir que las personas tienen los suficientes recursos para atender a su mascota, y/o cuidan de los más vulnerables que son ellos precisamente; lo que significa que en ese lugar no habrá mezquindad hacia la persona que llegue; caso contrario ocurre en un hogar en donde el perro está flaco, pues, o no tienen lo suficiente para alimentarlo o simplemente, no les importa, y menos brindarán ayuda a un tercero. Esto es aplicable no sólo a casas, sino también a todos los sitios en general, resaltando que un lugar en específico puede no ser próspero y adecuado para permanecer en él.

3) “Cara bonita, siempre enamora.”

Está científicamente comprobado por estudiosos de la conducta humana, que una persona atractiva físicamente tendrá más probabilidades de éxito al tratar de gestionar algo ante terceros, pues su bonitura, su belleza, les facilitará lo que estén haciendo y las cosas las cosas en general; situación que vemos con mucha frecuencia en el mundo real y en el mundo virtual, en donde ocurren casos, que personas atractivas físicamente, obtienen grandes beneficios sin tener méritos y sin haber trabajado realmente para merecer tales recompensas.

4) " Donde está el rey, está la corte."

Es un refrán muy utilizado para resaltar la superioridad de una persona, desde el punto de vista jerárquico y/o económico, ya que quien tiene ese nivel tendrá cerca a sus subordinados. También se emplea para señalar cuando hay personas aduladoras alrededor de alguien que tenga algún poder, y a esas personas les interesa obtener algo a través de la adulación, lo cual también se relaciona con el dicho anterior, ya que esta situación la vemos con muchísima frecuencia en el mundo virtual y en el mundo real, en donde aquellos que pueden catalogarse como chupa medias, jajajaja, obtienen grandes recompensas, sin que su trabajo tenga la calidad suficiente para merecerlas.

5) “Detrás de un cerro, está el llano. ”

Un refrán que generalmente se dice para darse ánimos, y señalar que luego de las dificultades vendrán las recompensas y las cosas buenas; ya que un cerro puede ser difícil de escalar o de superar, pero luego de él vendrá un terreno más amable y sencillo de transitar. Es el equivalente a decir: “Detrás de la tempestad, viene la calma.” .

1) "Of the wolf, a hair, and of the wretch, a penny."

This saying actually groups two sayings together, and both express the impossibility of any event occurring, since it is very difficult and unlikely that you can take a hair from a wolf and stay alive, as it is also impossible to take a penny from a wretch, so it is a saying used to point out that it is very difficult, if not impossible, for something specific to happen.

2) “Where you see a skinny dog, don't stay.".

When in a house you see a well-fed dog, this means that people have enough resources to take care of their pet, and/or they take care of the most vulnerable which are precisely them; which means that in that place there will be no meanness towards the person who arrives; the opposite case occurs in a home where the dog is skinny, because, either they do not have enough to feed it or simply, they do not care, and less they will provide help to a third party. This is applicable not only to houses, but also to all places in general, highlighting that a specific place may not be prosperous and suitable to stay in it.

3) “A pretty face always makes you fall in love".

It is scientifically proven by scholars of human behavior, that a physically attractive person will have more chances of success when trying to manage something to third parties, because their good looks, their beauty, will facilitate what they are doing and things in general; situation that we see very often in the real world and in the virtual world, where cases occur, that physically attractive people, get great benefits without having merits and without having really worked to deserve such rewards.

4) " Where the king is, there is the court."

It is a saying widely used to highlight the superiority of a person, from a hierarchical and / or economic point of view, since whoever has that level will have close to his subordinates. It is also used to point out when there are flattering people around someone who has some power, and those people are interested in obtaining something through flattery, which is also related to the previous saying, since we see this situation very often in the virtual world and in the real world, where those who can be classified as "chupa medias" (sock sucker), hahahaha, get great rewards, without their work having enough quality to deserve them.

5) “Behind a hill, there is the plain."

A saying that is generally said to encourage one another, and to point out that after difficulties will come rewards and good things; for a hill may be difficult to climb or overcome, but after it will come a gentler and easier terrain to traverse. It is the equivalent of saying, "After the storm, comes the calm."
