[ESP/ENGL] Cinco sabios refranes venezolanos (Trigésima Sexta Parte) // Five wise Venezuelan sayings (Thirty-sixth part)

ESPAÑOL

1) “Con pequeña brasa, se quema la casa.”

Se emplea este refrán como una advertencia, en el sentido de que una pequeña indiscreción, imprudencia, comentario o acción, puede generar un gran problema; por eso es necesario pensar bien antes de hablar o actuar, porque un simple suceso o hecho, puede generar una catástrofe. Es un dicho muy sabio.

2) “Cuantas hagas en un año, las pagarás en un día.”

Este refrán contiene una verdad universal, que se puede resumir en: “el que la hace, la paga” , y realmente es así, pues hace referencia a que todo lo que hagamos en nuestra vida, sin lugar a dudas se pagará en ésta. Dijera alguien que conozco: “la vida es un restaurante, nadie se va sin pagar” , así pues, que a pensar muy bien cómo nos comportamos, porque no hay escapatoria de los efectos y consecuencias que acarrean nuestros actos.

3) “En casa del ahorcado, no se habla de la soga.”

Este refrán aconseja la prudencia al hablar, al comentar, porque al tratar asuntos que sean muy delicados o sensibles, delante de personas que pueden sentirse aludidas o señaladas, podemos cometer un grave error. Así que mejor callar, y no hablar demás en el sitio menos indicado. ¡A cuidar la lengua!

4) "El ladrillo es familia de la teja."

Tanto el ladrillo como la teja están hechos del mismo material: Arcilla, por tanto, cuando se usa este refrán, se quiere resaltar que dos o más personas son de la misma índole, que son afines, amigos o familiares. A veces es un refrán que se usa de forma peyorativa, para resaltar la mala calaña de otros individuos.

5) “En boca de mentiroso, lo cierto se hace dudoso. ”

Una persona que sea mentirosa, difícilmente será de confiar; por eso, cuando se usa este refrán, es precisamente para señalar que si un individuo que miente mucho, dice algo verdadero, lo que diga siempre estará en tela de juicio, ya que no hay seguridad de que aquello es cierto; por tanto siempre existirá la duda. Es un dicho muy cierto y muy sabio, pues lamentablemente, existen muchas personas que son así.

1) “With small ember, it burns the house down."

This saying is used as a warning, in the sense that a small indiscretion, imprudence, comment or action, can generate a big problem; that is why it is necessary to think well before speaking or acting, because a simple event or fact, can generate a catastrophe. It is a very wise saying.

2) “As much as you do in a year, you will pay for it in a day."

This saying contains a universal truth, which can be summarized as: "he who makes it, pays for it", and it really is so, since it refers to the fact that everything we do in our life, will undoubtedly be paid for in this one. Someone I know said: "life is a restaurant, no one leaves without paying" , so, think very well how we behave, because there is no escape from the effects and consequences of our actions.

3) “In the house of the hanged man, don't talk about the rope."

This proverb advises caution when speaking, when commenting, because when dealing with very delicate or sensitive matters, in front of people who may feel alluded to or pointed out, we can make a serious mistake. So it is better to keep quiet, and not to talk too much in the wrong place. Watch your tongue!

4) " Brick is family to roof tile."

Both the brick and the roof tile are made of the same material: clay, therefore, when this saying is used, it is meant to highlight that two or more people are of the same kind, that they are related, friends or relatives. Sometimes it is a saying that is used in a pejorative way, to highlight the bad character of other individuals.

5) “In the mouth of a liar, the true becomes doubtful. "

A person who is a liar, will hardly be trusted; therefore, when this saying is used, it is precisely to point out that if an individual who lies a lot, says something true, what he says will always be in doubt, since there is no certainty that what is true; therefore there will always be doubt. It is a very true and very wise saying, because unfortunately, there are many people who are like that.
