In spot #86 is an artist who is rather unique. Not only did she make a comeback after a long break from the music scene, but in middle age she reinvented herself into a ‘music superstar’.
Yup, I am sure you guessed it !!! Tina Turner , after ending her partnership with music and life partner Ike Turner, she disappeared off the scene only to return with her album Private Dancer . Released in November 1984 the album sold 4.9 million copies and had a smash number one hit What’s Love Got to do with it
What’s Love Got To Do With It
Man, the talent who were enrolled to make this album sounds almost like a who’s who of rock. None other than Mark Knopfler was responsible for the title track…. Private Dancer, a poignant tale of a strippers life. On other tracks songwriters like Paul McCartney, David Bowie and Al Green were enlisted.
Private Dancer
Well the men come in these places
and the men are all the same
You don't look at their faces
and you don't ask their names
You don't think of them as human
You don't think of them at all
You keep your mind on the money
keeping your eyes on the wall
Lyric Credits
The album received Grammy’s for “Best Record of the Year", "Best Female Vocalist"and "Best Female Rock Vocals performance". I am surprised that it only sold 4.9 million copies
Let’s Stay Together
Now my personal perspective … an enjoyable post… professional music with a beat so not a hardship…. But in a small dose. I can now forget Tina for another year or two. Share your thoughts below …
