Another week, another Share Your Battle Challenge. This time the Monster in the spotlight is used quite often due to the fact it is a potent Magic Attacker with a Neutral status, namely the Magi of Chaos. It is one of those magic attack Monsters you can throw in any mix (but its optimal use would be in a magic team) as long as your mana budget allows it.

Now before we get into the stats discussion of the Magi of Chaos, let's have a sneak peek into its LORE

So, the Magi of Chaos is directly responsible for the arrival of the Chaos Legion. Yup, you can definitely tell that is the case just by looking at its sly grin.

Alright, we've got some idea of what the Magi of Chaos is, after glancing at its lore. Let us have a look at its stats and abilities at different key levels now.

At level 1 the Magi of Chaos has 2 Magic Attack, 2 Speed, 0 armor and 5 Health. It has no starting ability which is rather odd for a 6-mana epic Monster.
At level 2 it gains an additional health point for a total of 6.
At level 3 it gains an additional Magic Attack point for a total of 3 which makes the Monster an even stronger contender for every Magic line-up.
At level 5 it finally gains its one and only ability - Oppress (does double damage when attacking a Monster with no attacks)
Finally maxed out at level 6 it has 4 Magic Attack, 2 Speed and 7 health.

Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.

The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:

The rulesets for this battle are Unprotected (Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs) and Keep Your Distance (Monsters with Melee attack type can't be used), and its mana restriction is a bit above average - 38. This means that it will be wiser if I allocate the mana budget more or less evenly among the Monsters I include in this battle. The available Splinters are Earth and Death. Since I want to showcase the Magi of Chaos, Obsidian is the best summoner I have to do that as she enables the magic line-ups in CL decks such as mine.

First in the line-up due to the ruleset is the Mycelic Slipspawn. There are generally 3 spots I usually place Monsters with taunt - 2nd position (if I'm certain I won't get "Yodin-ed"), last position, if I do feel I might get wrecked by Explosive Weaponry or Main tank for the times when Melee Monsters cannot be played or I really want to land direct heals on the said Monster.

The 2nd place in the line-up goes to the Regal Peryton. This is probably one of my favorite casters not only as far as the Earth Splinter goes but across all splinters. Its Flying ability paired with 6 speed makes it a really hard to hit annoyance for the enemy team. I have it in the 2nd spot to serve as an off-tank if needed.

The 3rd place in the line-up goes to our protagonist - the Magi of Chaos. As already discussed it is a caster from the CL collection which is heavily used in all sorts of magic line-ups. It is very potent for its mana cost and only gets better the higher its level is.

The 4th spot goes to the Goblin Psychic. Again another blog star you can read about. It is my favorite healer in the game hands down due to its abilities. Affliction at level 5 and Silence at level 7 are abilities anyone would welcome in their line-up. Its only drawback is its low Speed but that's the trade off one has to make.

5th in the line-up is the Venari Spellsmith. It is the least important Monster in this line-up and it will have to take one for the team if the enemy happens to have any ranged Monster with the Sneak ability.

Last but definitely not least is Djinn Biljka. I absolutely expect Djinn Biljka to be the last "man" standing in this battle if my strategy is successful due to its Camouflage ability which prevents it from being attacked basically until it gets to the Main Tank spot unless it dies to splash damage prior to that.

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:

As I have already mentioned, the Summoner I have chosen for this battle is my go-to Summoner for magic line-ups - Obsidian. On the other hand my opponent has chosen to go with a level 4 Thaddius. Thaddius is actually a hard counter to my line-up, however, this battle is fought in Gold League, and my level 6 Obsidian has a slight advantage here due to some of my Monsters being higher levels.

After 1 round, I have lost my Mycelic Slipspawn (as predicted) due to the fact that the enemy has a quite a lot of DPS despite being a lower level. On the other hand I've managed to take down their Djinn Muirat.

At the start of Round 3 it is obvious that my "magic power" has finally kicked in and I have also managed to take down all of the enemy front line.

Round 4 is and all that is left for my team is to take down the last enemy Monster.

The Magi of Chaos is a great Neutral Monster. It can be fit into any composition as long as you have that spare spot and at least 6 mana to spend on it. It's currently valued at $1.69 per BCX, so it is actually one of the CL Epic Monsters which manages to maintain a bit higher price, meaning people find it useful - that is not surprising at all, of course. Get your copies and stack its BCX to the appropriate level for the league you dwell in. The same goes for me as well actually. 😃
