Here's my selection of music to share with you today. As usual, we have a variety of styles, all things that I enjoy listening to from time to time.
Unsurprisingly, Q was a bit of a challenge, but I've managed... and discovered a new-to-me artist at the same time.
But first... we go back in time.
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now (1978)
I have to be honest, this isn't my favorite band, but I recognize their excellent vocal ability which they shared with the world.
This song did quite well in the UK, and was appreciated in the US, though not quite as excitedly. This song remained quite popular through the 80s and still gets featured from time to time when the song seems appropriate to accompany a TV show or other media.
Even though it's not my favorite, it has a good place in history, and sort of bridged the evolution from 70s disco into 80s heavier rock styles.
Now, a one-hit wonder of the 80s...
Stacey Q - Two of Hearts (1986)
I remember this song being immensely popular with my friends of the time. It had a very good place along side Cyndi Lauper and Madonna at the time. I think it's a shame that Stacey Q never had a lot of other success as this one is so fun, catchy, and perfect for the time period as bands were playing more and more with electronic sounds and testing new limits.
I had to look further to find my number 3. (I really didn't want to go with just 2.) Then I found this new country lady who definitely deserves more attention!
This young woman started recording songs very, very young. One of her early songs that I saw on YouTube was recorded when she was only 9 or 10!
Queeva - Who You Really Are (2017 - age 13)
Wow! So far, I've liked every song I've heard of hers. Her voice is so much more mature than her age would suggest. Her voice is strong, sweet and croony in the best country style. I think she has an amazing future before her and will take the charts by storm. I subscribed to her channel today and eagerly anticipate every new song she releases.
