This is the first time we have been tasked to share a battle with an epic CL Monster. The Temporal Master is an interesting choice to kick off the epic CL Monster showcase. I will say that I use the Temporal Master very rarely if ever. This is probably mostly due to its ability - Recharge (the Monster deals 3x its damage every other turn) which is usually pretty hard to be made to work in your favor, specifically for low-mana Monsters such as the one in question. I will approach this positively and say that this could turn out to be a great opportunity to give this Monster another chance and hopefully win a battle (or two) with it in my line-up.

Now before we get into the stats discussion of the Temporal Master, let's have a sneak peek into its LORE.

So, it seems that the Temporal Masters are true masters of time, who really dislike the Chaos Legion and have not yet bought a single node.😁

Alright, we've got some idea of what a Temporal Master is, after glancing at its lore. Let us have a look at its stats and abilities at different key levels now.

The Temporal Master is a Rare Monster. At level 1 it has 1 Magic Attack, 2 Speed, 0 Armor and 2 Health but most importantly it starts off with the Recharge ability. This is its signature ability, which is also its bane at least for now. This means that at level 1 you get an epic Monster for 3 mana, which attacks every other turn for 3 Magic damage.
At level 4 it gains an additional point in Magic Attack for a total 2. This is actually a huge deal cause this also doubles its total damage from 3 Magic Attack every other turn to 6. 6 Magic Attack is actually pretty good for a 3 mana Monster.
Finally, maxed out at level 6 it has 2 attack, 2 speed, and 5 health. It also gains an additional ability - Stun. This is actually pretty helpful if you get lucky and land those Stuns more often. You need to be 2x luckier than with other Stun Monsters because it attacks 2x less often.

Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.

The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:

The rulesets for this battle are two of the three released this week so that's very exciting. They are Thorns and Return Fire. They do exactly what the Monsters with similar abilities do - the first one inflicts damage to all melee attackers, and the second one returns damage back to Ranged Attack Monsters who successfully hit the targets with Return Fire on them. The mana budget is 54 which is a significantly higher than average and does allow the player to choose mostly whatever they want for their line-up. The available Splinters are: Water, Earth and Life. I have obviously chosen to go with the Life Splinter since I need to stick to the task at hand. It might come as a surprise but I have decided to use my level 3 Rathe for this battle instead of my level 6 Sloan because I feel I might get magic spammed and Rathe is definitely the way to go in such cases.

I have chosen to go with my level 3 Uriel as the main tank. I like it a lot due to its considerable armor amount and self-heal. The armor is especially useful when paired with Rathe, and makes me feel more confident that it can withstand a bit of a beating involving magic damage. Its other upside is that it has the Flying ability so that makes it 25% harder to hit (by ranged and melee attacks) which also could be huge.

Following immediately after Uriel is a recent favorite of mine which has arrived into the game with the Rift Watchers mini set, but it is every but mini in terms of its stats - Corsair Bosun. It is specifically great for the Thorns ruleset since its Reflection Shield makes it immune to Thorns. It also has the Reach ability so it has no issues attacking from the off-tank position.

The 3rd place in the line-up goes to our protagonist the Temporal Master. I think this position makes most sense in the current setup I am going with. I could be wrong of course.

The 4th place in the line-up goes to the Time Mage. It is a Caster which is basically a must-have in most situations since at this current level it not only has Slow (which is one of the most important abilities in the game imho) but it also has Rust (reduced the armor of all enemy Monsters).

The 4th spot is for Adelade Brightwing. This is another Monster I basically constantly use when using Rathe due to its ability to repair amor, paired with its ability to Resurrect a fallen ally (once per battle) which is also huge if the right friendly Monster gets to be revived. It also has Flying which is also really helpful as already mentioned.

In the last spot I've decided to employ the service of another member of the Rift Watchers - Runemancer Atuat. I'm using it mostly due to the fact that using Melee and Ranged Attack Monsters is not recommended with the two rulesets we have in place, so it is the best caster I could use due to its significant healthpool. Besides its Headwinds ability is not bad if the enemy has for some reason decided to play Ranged attack Monsters in their line-up.

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:

The Summoner I am going with for the battle (as I have already mentioned) is Rathe. The battle itself is in Gold league and my opponent has decided to go with a level 6 Kelya, and all their Monsters are at the max level allowed for the league apart from their Axemaster. They have three Magic attackers so Rathe seems to have been a good choice on my side. I'm also certain that their Axemaster won't live to tell the tale of this battle with the Return Fire ruleset active for it.

After 1 round of exchanging blows nothing has changed on the battlefield. Let's see how the 2nd round goes.

Round 3 begins with some obvious and some not so obvious facts regarding the development of the battle during Round 2. Basically both resurrects have been used - 1 on each side, and my opponent is down 1 Monster - their Deeplurker which fell prey to the amplified thorns damage.

Round 4 is upon as and I have obviously lost Uriel while the opponent has lost their Axemaster (after committing suicide) and their Wave Brood - again cause of death -> Return Fire. It is still unclear who wins this battle though so let's keep going.

Round 5 is here and nothing seems to have changed on the battlefield. Djinn Oshannus and Bosun have been exchanging blows in the middle, supported by the rest of their teams.

Round 6 - I have lost Corsair Bosun but Oshannus is still standing. That's not the best news but let's see how it goes.

Round 7 - I have lost the Temporal Master as well and Oshannus is still standing. It is about to die though, so things are not that dire.

Round 8 is here and it is two Magic Attack Monsters vs 2 Magic Attack Monsters, however, I have the upper hand because I am still able to repair 1 Armor which successfully blocks one of the 2 attacks coming from the Monsters on the other team. This will probably win me the battle.

Round 9 - Nerissa Tridawn is about to die this turn so I am really close to winning.

Round 10 - River Hellondale is no match for my remaining forces. This was no the easiest of battles. A nice victory for my team.

The Temporal Master is a niche Magic Attacker for the Life Splinter. It has fairly limited use for the time being but who knows, something might happen which could turn the tides. The Temporal Master is currently valued at $0.32 per BCX, which is actually really cheap for such a an Epic Monster. I would definitely consider leveling it up at some point. As I said, the underdog might actually become a favorite at some point due to future gameplay decisions.
