I shouldn't surprise anyone that X was particularly difficult to achieve. Even when I took artistic license and included any act with the letter X in its name.
Anyway, here's my selection of music to share with you today. As usual, we have a variety of styles, all things that I enjoy listening to from time to time.
Roxette - Joyride (1991)
The year I graduated high school, this cool love song rocked the airwaves all the way to #1 in many countries. Although I was listening to country music at the time, it was impossible to avoid hearing this song in many places - and I feel it deserves that level of appreciation.
This Swedish duo had a few hits which were sometimes fun, sometimes more serious, but almost always catchy. More at Wikipedia.
Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting (for You) (1989)
This is one of the most beautiful love songs to come out of the 80s. Apparently, many people agreed as it hit #1 in many countries in 1989.
Richard Marx had many good songs, but I think this was the best. More at Wikipedia.
X is a great excuse to cover one of the best Western singers of all time (again)...
Chris LeDoux - Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy (1997)
This is probably Chris' best song that didn't have a video. (I wish it did, because it would have been a fun one!)
One of the cool things about Chris LeDoux is that he was a genuine cowboy - both in rodeo and at home on his ranch, here near Kaycee, Wyoming.
I remember hearing this song for the first time on the radio, featuring Garth Brooks as the "cowboy" that was caught by this woman who thinks she wants a cowboy but has no idea what that's really like.
The song is very fun (would be awesome to West Coast Swing to) and features both voices very well. There's even some plays on lyrics here including Chris singing that she'd be better off trying to "rope the wind"... One of Garth Brooks' early albums was called "Ropin' the Wind."
(BTW, the admiration here went both ways - I remember reading that the first time that Chris heard Garth's song "Wild Horses" (which mentions "a worn-out tape of Chris LeDoux") he nearly drove off the road!)
