Here's my selection of music to share with you today. As usual, we have a variety of styles, all things that I enjoy listening to from time to time.
Love is in the air today - maybe because I didn't get much writing time today... Anyway, three songs:
John Paul Young - Love is in the Air (1977)
I was surprised to see that although this song made it into the top 10 in the charts in many countries, it only hit #1 on the US Adult Contemporary charts and only hit Gold in Australia. I guess it is one of those songs that everyone would include in their wedding list, but no one considers one of their all-time favorites. Read more on Wikipedia.
Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart (1983)
This was the first time I watched that video and that was weird! The song seems to have no connection to the video until you think about both things in a more symbolic light. I found a couple of videos that had different ideas about the meaning of the video - and therefore the song - see what you think... I think they're both very appropriate for today's world. Chess.com talks about it being allegorical to the governments... whereas this article at Philly Magazine seems to just say (what we already know) that it's a weird video, but does give some interesting breakdowns of the action.
This song reached no. 1 in the US and on the top ten in several other countries. There are other thoughts and descriptions in the Wikipedia article.
So much for this one being a love song (even a sad one...) But the next one makes up for it.
Trisha Yearwood - She's in Love with the Boy (1991)
I loved this song from the first time I heard it - and it includes chickens!
Another song about true love which doesn't forget to keep the fun in the song.
The first of her 5 no. 1 hits, I think this was the true start of Trisha's country music career. This song hit no. 1 in both the US and Canada and definitely deserves more attention for the cute song and the cute video to accompany it.
